I have a '92 300 Win Mag w/ a 1 in 10 twist rate. What weight bullets are best suited to this twist? Is there a way to identify the sweet spot (grain-wise) other than experimenting with a variety of loads? Seemed to me some of you guys who reload might have info and resources that can help narrow the choices.

The 1:10 can handle the heavies pretty well. Berger recommends a 1:10 for their new 230 grain hybrid .308.

Just to be clear, I am looking for .300 winmag bullets suitable for dropping razorbacks to bull moose.
Each gun is different but with that twist you should be able to stabilize any hunting bullet made. In both lead free and conventional cup and core bullets, I'd start with the 180s an go up from there if they don't work to your satisfaction.

Thanks Frank. I ask because the popular opinion seems to be to drop down in weight when shooting cooper (Central Cal. hogs in the bird brained Condor Zone) but I usually lean towards the heavier end of the spectrum with the belief that more lead = more dead. Looking for the DRT smackdown when I squeeze the trigger.

The weight of the bullet isn't the problem, it's the length. Copper bullets are less dense than copper jacketed lead bullets so in order to make them heavy enough they have to have more material. Since the diameter is fixed the only way to do that is to make them longer. If you stick to factory ammo it should be fine in a 1:10 twist.

I got a 700 300 win mag 1/10 and mine loves the copper federal tsx 165 grain bullets. Too bad there about 60$ a box. But it is a tack driver with this load. Worth it when hunting.

I bought some 21-3251 Federal Premium .300 Win. Magnum Rifle Ammunition .300 WIN MAG 165 TSX @ $57.99 each. My rifle hates it. I was driving tacks with my FMJ ammo, (anchored in a Lead Sled) switched to the TSX and the groups were horrible. Could not dial it in to less than 2.5" at 100 yards. My FMJs are punching centers outta 1" orange stickies every time. Could it be the length of the bullet? Would a lighter (shorter) bullet perhaps perform better? I realize an inch and half isn't much...until you're 200 or 300 yards away. Then it is a major issue!

I've heard that same thing but I always figure that if I can shoot the same weight bullet with a better sectional density/ballistic coefficient, why not use it?
