View Full Version : Should I jump on the Colt 6920 already??

A few months ago I decided after researching that I would buy the Colt 6920. My recent attempt at buying a Ruger GP100 and looking to see if a few other handguns I was interested in were in stock gave me a bit of concern. Every handgun I would like to purchase at some point was out of stock. I was planning to wait till the summer to buy the Colt but since it's an election year, gas is going up, people also seem to be "prepping" a lot more. Should I just jump on it?? My concern is if I wait till the summer I might have to wait a few months more or worse...

Turner's has it on sale for $1179 but I have seen some people post they were able to get one for $1050-$1100

I would prefer the Colt 6920cmp-b but will settle for the regular 6920

Do it. You're getting one of the better/best AR's on the civilian market.

They are now available at my local Wal-Mart, is this true for you in Kali?

Davidsons/Gun Genie has some. They sold out of the MP-B, but still have another 6920 CA model.

No and no. Walmart doesn't sell the colt it sales the Bushmaster which I bought and is pleasantly surprised. And no they don't sell firearms at wal-marts in CA.

I accept your correction.
It is Bushmaster at my Wally World and not Colt.

Can you explain this post (http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3163876&page=1) over on SnipersHide?

I purchased a LE6920CMP-B on 2/29 at Eddy's Shooting Sports for $1201+CA tax :(
Out the door, it was $1325+change. I pick it up next Tuesday. Can't wait to take this to the range and see how it holds up.

I was thinking of going the build route but being that this would be my first 5.56 semi-automatic carbine, I wanted to see how a factory machine was put together first.
As I get more comfortable with the Colt, I will eventually venture into putting together my own vision with more customization - the intent of the Colt I hope, will be to use it as a good reference and keep it as stock as possible. MOE and an optic would be the only real areas I will replace (optics first; I may change out color on all the MOE parts afterwards.)

I'd get one if you can. Eddy deals with it's supplier in AZ. They do have specials but right now, they aren't discounting any Colts, however I did see a Bushmaster rifle (20"). Not sure where you are in CA but if you're in the Bay Area, you could give them a call. Here's the link to their specials via Davidson's website:

You could also try Reeds Indoor Range but I don't know anything about their pricing.

Good luck. I think the 6920 in MOE looks great!

I have a plain jane 6920CA I bought from G&R Tactical for $1010 and Riflegear did the DROS. Also Riflegear has a 6920CA for $1149 and a LE6920MOE for $1199.

Either way go for it..excellent weapon for the money. First time out I put 450 rounds out of it..not a hiccup, which is nice for an out of the box weapon.

might want to double check that. times appear to be a'changing.

m4carbine.net also has a thread about Walmart selling Colt Rifles. Might be select locations and states, but it does appear they may in fact selling Colt Rifles as well now

Really? Their websites only mention bushmaster, a search for colt nothing comes up as far as rifle wise.

Edit: it appears you're right however I haven't seen any at my local wal-marts. But I wonder if they are going to start selling them here because they haven't had the bushmaster or sig AR's in stock since I bought mine like 2 months ago.

With the elections year coming, I definitely see the correlation with supply and demand. You will have people stocking up and panic buying which is probably a legitimate concern because of government and/or economic uncertainties.

If we ever experience a Clinton Crime Bill again (knock on wood nothing like this ever happens), you'll be surprised how much things will get marked up! When I worked at Turners in the 90's, AR's were marked up the last 15 days before the bill goes into effect at 2x to 3x the value which was ridiculous, but people were still willing to buy.

I remember... I purchased a Colt Sporter Lightweight for $999.00 Pre-Ban and then Turners sold them at the last 15 days before the Clinton Bill at $3000.00

Wished I still had that Sporter, but glad I was able to replace it with a CA6920 :D

Gotta hand it to Colt, even if it took them longer than most, they made an excellent decision by providing CA once again with their ARs. Even if they are not the best, by now being back in the market with an OLL, when people want to buy their first AR they first think COLT.
