In the HSC, all it says are 2 forms of identification + mandatory up-to-10-day background check.

However for making a purchase from another private user, what all is required?

I tried searching and reading the Stickied threads but couldn't find my answer.

Thanks,

The FFL form on the BATF website (http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5310-12-notice.html) looks to be for businesses.

Is there a FFL for individuals? Then the transfer occurs @ a registered firearm dealer...

You and the seller will need to go to a gun store (FFL) where they will process the Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) as a Private Party Transaction (PPT). The fee will be $35 and there will be a 10 day wait. One handgun per DROS but you can have multiple rifles/shotguns on the same DROS. The FFL can charge an additional fee for each additional rifle/shotgun (I think it is $10). The HSC and second form of ID is required for a handgun, although some shops have asked for a second form of ID for rifle/shotgun transfers (store policy).

A possible exception would be a Curio & Relic (C&R) rifle/shotgun that is over 50 years old. These can be sold cash & carry, usually as a face to face transaction.

Oh, and welcome to Calguns.

A66,

Socal Bob summed it up nicely. Congrats on the purchase and be sure to show it off in the Handguns section (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/forumdisplay.php?f=66) once you pick it up. :)
