I really want an ACOG but cant see my spending that much on my AR.

If I really want a medium to small sized scope that has the bullet drop system like ACOGS and possibly has the ability to be illuminated (triitium/LED/Battery) or otherwise, is there something cheaper than a ACOG? I like the idea of it being able to be seen in dimmer light settings and the bullet drop would be nice for steel shooting.

Yea I've seen that one, it looks good, but sorta busy on the whole system tehy use on the scope, but I do like it, and it sounds like burris makes a good product.

Have you used it?

I also heard used triflux's are awesome, it looks like a british SUSAT sight which I really like.

These guys had good things to say, it does sound like a good buy now that I'm looking deeper.

It's a good buy if you're looking for a compact scope with BDC. Nothing else exists in that price range with your requirements. I prefer 1-4X scopes over fixed, myself. The TAC30/MTAC use the same reticle and allow you to go to down to 1X for close-in stuff.

I'm kinda new to rifles and scopes/optics. Fixed power is what? and I'll look at the tac30. Wish more stuff was made domestically.

I'm not totally against bigger scopes I just dont want a huge scope on it, wish I could see one on a AR15 so I could get an idea, it does look good though.

I'll look that one up to as well.

Or you can get the Burris ar-522. Same exact scope but with 5x zoom. I have the Burris ar-322 and I have no complaints. Don't know if the bullet drop works since I can't find a spot to shoot more than 150 yds, but I read reviews that it works great.

Fixed power just means you're stuck at 1 type of magnification. Non-adjustable basically like the Aimpoint T-1 or PRO(Patrol Rifle Optic)

I'm basically in the same position as you looking for a decent optic for my back ordered AR. Want something more for carbine courses that will vary from very close range drills to some longer ranger precision shots. Been looking at the Aimpoint T-1/PRO or Primary Arms microdot with maybe a 3x magnifier on a tilt mount. The Burris AR332 is also a contender but am wary of its long range effectiveness. I could also put a magnifier behind that but man, it's gonna make the top of the AR look too busy and not to mention the added weight.

Yea I'm liking the Burris but I just figure if I'm going beyond 400 I may as well get that eotech that has the bullet drop dots.

Between that Burris and nikon, are both illuminated or only etched glass?

If I can co-witness through some of these that's a win too, or quick detach

The Burris does illuminate. Green or red. At its highest setting you get a pretty bad glare. Medium to low setting works great.

You can't cowitness with any scopes that have any magnification. This includes 1-4X variable scopes.
The Burris illumination is only good in dusk or dark conditions. It washes out in bright daylight.

I'm thinking I'm going to grab the Burris AR red model.

My cousin wants a vortex strikefire but can't find a flip down magnifier like the eotechs do.

Good to know. I'm thinking I'm grabbing the Burris and for another upper I'm getting the SPARC with the flip out magnifier. Thanks for the help guys!

Zfields+10-:oji:It seems yer always one step ahead of me!! I think they are sold out right now. They also have a decent 1-4x. I also heard thru a rep that they were coming out with a compact fixed5 with bullet drop due to customer demand. The 5x won't be out for a while tho. G-luck an be safe!
