I am currently in the process of building my first AR-10. I am using a DPMS lower with a DPMS 308 lower parts kit.

My question is, I am looking to put a 5 position buffer tube on the lower as I will be using a Magpul PRS Mil spec stock on it. I have an brand new milspec buffer tube assembly for an ar-15 in my safe manufactured by Tapco. Are the AR-10 assemblies the same as the AR-15 or are they different. I noticed online DPMS sells one buffer tube assembly specifically for the 308 and one for the AR-15 while other companies say there assemblies are for the AR-10 or Ar-15 which leaves me a bit confused.

Sorry as I am not well versed in the AR-10 knowledge I just don't want to use the wrong buffer configuration.

Thanks

IIRC, there was a more recent thread on the tube is GTG, but you need an AR-10 spring and buffer.

prs uses a rifle tube, not the carbine.

PRS uses the A2 buffer tube (standard rifle buttstock)
as of last week i couldnt find the spring online so i ended up buying from DPMS the rifle buffer and spring. i already had a buffer tube.

I have an A2 stock that I bought a 308 spring and buffer for. The spring is quite a bit stronger and the buffer is shorter. The 308 round is longer than the 223/556.

here is good package.
the standard ar buffer tube
the special parts are the spring and buffer you can mount any commercial stock

The buffer tube is the same for both AR15 and AR10, the spring and buffer for the AR10 are different. I have the PRS on my AR10 lower. The PRS stock uses the standard buffer tube, not the 5 position carbine.

Magpuls PRS also has a shorter cheek riser for the longer 308 charging handle.

The buffer weights and springs are different from AR15 to AR10.

Sorry guys I meant the ACS stock.. But thanks for all your answers as knowing the spring and buffer are indeed different now.
