Hello all, I've been studying up on the laws here and oh boy ... are there a few of them. First off I'd just like to say thanks for the wealth of information you all have compiled. Many different searches on google brought me mostly to the answers on this forum.

A little about me. I'm a firefighter and federal employee. I live in Lancaster where my wife and I bought our first house together and are expecting our first child. That last fact has brought me to where I am today, scouring for information on how I can better protect my family. We've got the alarm system and the 12 gauge which she knows how to use, however the more pregnant she gets, the harder it will be for myself and for her considering my work schedule has me gone from home for says at a time.

I was interested in the glock 19 gen 4 because I'm left handed, up until I found out I can't own it so I'm back to the gen 3.

I was born in Cali but grew up in Oregon so I've been around firearms my whole life, not to mention I'm also a veteran. I'm interested in possibly being one of your volunteers but am curious what you all think my chances are for a ccw based off my veteran and current federal status. Thank you all in advance.

To answer your question, unless your federal employment is as a federal law enforcement officer, your chances of a CCW from Los Angeles County are close to zero.

On a happier note, congratulations on your soon-to-be child!

Welcome to Calguns! You’ll find there are several of us first responders on the site so you’re among family.

On another note you can own the Gen4 Glock 19.
Please see the Single Shot Exemption Explanation thread (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=383692) and find a dealer near you. It will cost a little bit more, but the southpaw option on the gen4s will help you out.

Looks like EBR Works in Newbury and DAS in Solana Beach are the in your area. I would give them a call.

Congrats on the baby and stay safe. :)

Thanks for the welcomes.
Thanks for the info ubermcoupe, that sounds like a lot of work so I might just stick with the gen3. I guess we'll see how it goes once I can finally get my hands on one. I haven't found a single shop in the AV that has a 19 so I'm planning on heading down to Warrior One some time in the next couple weeks.
