Hey guys... I've had it with Butler Creek.

Of the dozen i've purchased in recent years, 8 have broken. I do nothing different, am not hard on them, I just flip them open and flip them closed. After a few dozen uses, they break. Truly pieces of garbage.

Seems they used to be great caps until Bushnell bought em?

Any suggestions on anyone else that makes great caps? I don't mind paying more if it'll last a long time.

Interested as well, just broke my first butler creek front cap.

The leupold scope caps I have seem a hell of a lot sturdier than the butler creek caps sitting on my bushnell. However... they only work with leupold scopes(and not all of them). I haven't heard of any other companies making universal flip caps.

Do you have personal experience with these? How robust? Sturdy? High quality plastic?

I've been having the same problem with the ones I have. So far I've bought 2 replacements, and am in need of replacing one again in just a 2 month period. They sure are very brittle at the hinge joint. I may have to try out one of those vortex ones and see if they are any better.

Anyone try the Weaver ones?

I have some caps that came with my Nightforce 2.5-10x32mm that look like weavers... they don't stay put as well as i like, but also haven't broken... maybe those are better?

I haven't found a good alternative to the BC caps. I'll stick with my bikini cover for my S&B for now. But a quality set of caps would be more than welcome and I'm definitely willing to buy if there is a vendor who is working on some. It seems like a lot of other people I've talked to are looking to buy as well.

The Vortex caps suck too. They are really flimsy and like to pop off when flipping them open and then they don't close all the way if the cap is too recessed on the scope. Also, when using a killflash ARD the killfllash doesn't stay in or it gets moved so basically they are crap. I think some super glue inside the cap and electrical taping the cap to the scope is my temporary solution.

I have the Alumina flip up caps from Leopold on my 3-9x40 scope. They've held up pretty well so far.
