Super tactical thanks! That was definitely interesting and nice to see that some law enforcement officers are on our side. Bratton and Baca are definitely political puppets!

Baca can blow me. I'll bet he doesn't worry about driving through the bad part of town since he can pack whereever he wants. Give up your permit you elitest bastard!

And Bratton...how come we always end up with complete @ss-kissing knuckleheads for the chief of our police departments?

This was posted months ago, but still good to see, especially after a conversation I had this morning with a friend whose father is a judge in LA County. I specifically referenced this and Baca's comments to her before seeing this posted again.

very revealing.

interesting how the counties with the high crime rates(SF, Alameda, LA, etc) have the lowest issuance rates in the state. Gun control works!!!!

The old guard is slowly going away. They are taking some of their failed ideas with them, too. As my generation takes the helm (I'm 30), I think were going to see some bad policies (No issue of CCW's, marijuana prohibition, etc...) disappear.

I completely agree with those sentiments. I'm in my 30s and most of the folks I know in their 30s agree that people are being victimized at an alarming rate and law enforcement is powerless to stop it. From my perspective it would be a mistake to make Marajauna lawful but then again if there's more people sitting around stoned there's more room for folks like myself who want to be ambitious and go somewhere.

Wow, you go from a complete jack-booted control freak like Baca in LA County to an articulate, progressive law enforcement "leader" like Corona in Orange County. Amazing.

I agreed with everything that they said about people being to get them. The only thing I think is dumb is what,Joe Arpaio said about off duty officers. Making them cary guns off duty and making them work off duty is stupid. Police officers dont make enough for what they do, and imagine if a cop "had to" enforce the law when hes with his two wife and kids, talk about bringing work to the home, brilliant:rolleyes: Other than more people should be able to carry them. Personally I think they should set hard standards, including mental evalutions and such that would be ones own expense, but if you pass your good to go.

Arpaio is just playing to the press, as usual. Deputies there have been expected to cary at all times since way before he was Sheriff. This is both for self defense and because a cop is still a cop even when off duty.

In Arizona if an officer witnesses a crime while off duty he is expected to take action. I thought it was the same here in CA.

IDK, I can tell you this much, my teachers(active and retired LEO's) dont carry weapons off duty, for different reasons. One says that hes never fealt that he needed to he wasnt in fear wherever he went. One of my other teachers said as soon as something goes down hes a trained eye witness and thats it, of course he said theirs always a exeption but for the most part hes not going to be the hero 6ft under. Of course mind you they are all older, smart, and college educated. Of course my friends the young cops with no college wherever we go, to a wedding, riding, or whatnot they are always strapped :) Of course when I(if I) get hired on im going strapped EVERYWHERE!:D

Baca also indicates special consideration are given to people if they have been victimized... when did defending yourself for law abiding citizen, became proof that you were a victim and that can be a good cause/justification to defend yourself?

that means if you survive your first incident we will give you consideration for a CCW?

If I remember correctly Baca barly won over Sherman Block, her died 1 or 2 weeks befoe the election. He won by default. I spoke to a Sheriff Processor, she stated the man's an Idoit. They sent them out to do paper work, and all that good stuff without a gun nor body armor. Just a radio!!!

Bratton is not better in Los Angeles, I;m glad I moved out of LA a few years agao. Remember you can not fire off a BB gun in your own back yard in the city of Los Angeles.

Isn't Corona under investagiton for some kind of criminal activities?

Doesn't mean I don't want CCW's here or that even as a criminal he wouldn't be better than Bratton or Baca

yes, you can then enjoy your CCW in peace....

although last i heard St Peter is not a big fan of CCW either(come on, the guy is gaurding the whole heaven with a book and a set of keys) so you may run into some problems coming up with a good cause there too.

Unbelievable he stated, "you must be a victim of violent crime", before he would issue a CCW.

Lets start a fight club so we can all be given the chance to get a CCW.

I hope that Lieutenant becomes the next Sheriff once Baca leaves; he's all for CCW's.

I think were going to see some bad policies (No issue of CCW's, marijuana prohibition, etc...) disappear.CCW -> Yes
Marijuana -> No
Here's why:

Not joking at all, Sheriff Baca does in fact issue posthumous CCWs. There is at least one dead guy with a current permit in LA.
