Got my BP02 mount in from Kalinka, and stuck my old leapers red dot on top. I like!

I just put my first Saiga in jail a couple days ago. I already ordered and new aluminum fore grip, oversized charger handle, some rails, and a pretty sweet rail that uses the rear sight holes and stock screw to secure it to the top of the rifle. I am planning on keeping it as a "sporter" and see how I like it. Maybe another one down the road as a "real" AK

Scored some weaver rings from Wally world and tried out my BSA "Tactical weapon scope".

A red dot or scope and a sling are about the only things that I would add to a Saiga. My goal is to keep the rifle as light and compact as possible.

TWS Top Cover is indeed a good option, pair that with a Bushnell TRS-25 or a higher grade optic and you have a great system. Another option is the gastube rail from Ultimak, however, that one may require fitting of the handguard.

Careful with the original sling swivels: That's about the only part that I've ever seen fail on a Saiga - multiple times in several classes that I taught. If you use a two-point sling and drop the rifle on your back while transitioning to your handgun, you may end up feeling a bump, then no weight, followed by an ugly "clang!"...
Best to drill through the factory studs and use either paracord (silent) or standard sling swivels.

A ak74 style muzzle break will help with groupings!

I agree wholeheartedly! I eventually plan on an Ultimak and TRS25 for my fantasy land CQB battles, but i want a scope on a quick detach as well. Nutnfancy did quite well with a Weaver scope on a SGL21, granted, he is a trained shooter.

I like to play both near and far. So I will end up with both setups and have them easily "switchable".

You are 100% right on the swivels, they are purely cosmetic in my opinion. I already have a conversion kit with a KVAR warsaw stock in the works. A REAL stock with a real AK sling as well.

Thanks for the tips!
