View Full Version : 300 Win Mag vs 408 Cheytac

The plate is 12" x 12" x 1/2" mild steel set at 800 yards. Location was out near Barstow.
The 300 win mag was not easy to hit accurately. It took well over 20 shots to hit the plate. The bullets would just fragment.
Can you tell which gun made the holes? Talk about a clean pass through, not even any splatter sign on the face of the plate. Clean drilled holes from the 408.

..Also those bleeding zombies from Zombie Industries.....Horrible. False Advertising. Terrible targets.

The .408 has energy similar to a .50BMG inside 1000 yards, so that doesn't surprise me, however if you're shooting the copper/nickel solids from LRBT/Jamison/Cheytac then don't expect AP performance beyond that. The bronze solids won't fair any better in that regard, but will go the distance they were intended.

Fun, eh?

What ammo were you running in each?

Fun stuff. I love shooting longer distances. Was it really windy? Just wondering why it took 20 rounds for the win mag to hit the plate @800?
