I am a Glock guy thru and thru but wanted something not so plastic. Forgive me fellow Glock owners for saying it!Have been around guns all my life and wanted something with a metal frame. Today I bought a Sig Enhanced Elite P229 in .40 cal. I was suprised that the grip was plastic on it but liked the beaver tail a lot. I am hoping they will make after market grips for it soon. That way I can change them out. The writing on the top of the slide for the chamber indicator is lame, but the gun is still very nice. It has an SRT trigger and Sig night sights. Plus the shop I got it at gave me a $100 discount for being a repeat customer. They were already asking less than MSRP according to Sigs website. Either way, Just really jazzed at getting a Sig finally. So my ten day jail begins.

Will post an update on how it shoots in two weeks.:)

I wanted a Sig 229 at 1st but it was $300 more compared to the Glock...I'll probably end up buying a Sig 229 next year...They should make grips for your sig 229 elite...do you have the sandpaper texture grips on the sig? i believe you can get a pair for your sig...

I bought a P229 .40 not too long after they first came out and it has given me many years of goodness. Just added some Heinie night sights recently.

As a bonus, you can swap the barrel to .357 Sig and use the same magazines.

It has the one piece grips, or should I say grip. It is ruff in texture. I hope they make a replacement. Like a houge style or better yet wood.

Heres a link to the exact one I got...

Congrats. nice choice of handgun.

The P229 platform is originally designed for the 40SW. It is a great gun i love mine.

Congrats! Everyone should have a good SA/DA, especially a sig.

you know what, that's so funny. I noticed that p229 in .40 feels a lot better than p226 in .40. Is it because p229 is heavier at the back?

Nice purchase!

Hoguestore.com has both wood and aluminum grips for your new 229. Cheaper than buying them through SIG.

Congrats! Nice Elite 229's. I'd think wood grips are available but you need to change your current ( E-grips) back to original Sig's setting. Cool b-tail, looking good!

I was reading a write up on the gun. It said it had the holes in the frame for the regular grips so you could change back, but to watch that the grip did not get in the way of the decocker. stating on this model they moved the decocker position back. Thank you for the link. I know nothing about Sigs so will have to read up and most likely call Sig to see what does fit. Unless someone here knows.;)

imo spend the extra $25 to get the Sig Logo on it...If you get it from Sig it'll say Sig sauer instead of just a plain wood grips without the sig logo...

Congrats on the new Sig man. I love the look of the P229 enhanced elite. I just put a deposit on a P226r with night sights in 9mm and the P229 enhanced elite is definitely on my short list. Make sure to post pics once she's out of jail.

Nice. The Sig P229 is one of the softest shooters in .40 s&w. It feels like 9mm +P to me. It's also amazingly accurate for a "compact" gun.

Nice gun! I have the 226 in 40. You'll love the ergo grips, fits my hand like a glove. I'm considering the 229 w/ ergo grips like yours for CCW.

Beautiful gun man. Range report when you get a chance. I just recently got a P226R in 9mm and I pick it up on Monday. Can't wait! Btw, Sigs are almost as addicting as 1911's.
