Move to Arizona and you can forget this question.
What is the penalty in California for first offense?

Well, to start; I bet loss of your gun for at time (they might not be in a hurry to get it back to you I would bet they will take it), and maybe a night in the pokey??? and then how much $$$ do you have to fight whatever else they want to charge you with?

I'm assuming you are asking about concealed firearms not just weapons in general

Welcome aboard.!

I don't know the answer. But I suggest you follow the law.

There are Attorneys and Lawfirms working on making Concealed Carry standards equal here in California. Let's be patient.

Be well, Bob

Depends... could be fine of up to 1000 + probation for a while + up to a year jail time. Could be a few of your formative years if you have even the slightest of priors.

it's loaded gun in a vehicle.

Given the state of the jails right now, if there's no priors 750 bucks fines, time served and 5 years probation seems a likely middle ground.

EDIT: Oh yeah and that gun, it's gone. NO CHANCE OF GETTING IT BACK.

Depends on your record and your lawyer.

If you're lucky, the gun is ordered destroyed and you will have about 100 hours of community service. You'll also get a fine of $140 or so. That's in the city of LA.

Don't do it.

Not a good idea to carry concealed without a permit.

I agree Calguns is not here to condone illegal practices.

Seriously don't. If you are in possession of ammunition for the firearm at the time it can be charged as a felony, if convicted you lose your 2A rights.
