Sacramento fails to act on gun ordinances - GREAT WORK!

04/03/2007 - The first reports from the Sacramento City Council Meeting are coming in and it seems that the City Council chose NOT to vote on the proposed gun ordinances. Instead, they decided to "hold over" these topics until an undermined meeting in the future. Thanks to everyone who called, wrote, emailed, and especially to those who attended the Sacramento City Council Meeting. Please continue to press our points in opposition to these bad ideas. Don't let-up on them! See also calguns.net (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=53961).

That's great news. Hopefully they don't sneak it in sometime in the future when we're not paying attention.

Nice one. This type of cancer is bet nipped in the bud before other cities follow Sacramento's example.

Didn't Sacto recently pass a firearms theft ordinance and sneak it in right at the end of a session?

I'm pretty sure you are mistaken.

The government is 100% inept, but so much so as to pass two separate but identical ordinances?

I don't think so.......

There was a city government that snuck in a tabled bill near the end of the last session... I tried searching for it but couldn't find it...

I've been out of town and off the net for almost a month. I'm glad to see that this was tabled (for now), but sorry I couldn't help more. I wrote to all the councilmembers to express my opposition, but couldn't attend any meetings. If this comes up again in a public hearing, I'll be there.

The City told me that these two ordinances are scheduled to be heard next on Tuesday, May 15 at 12:30pm.

Please, please make the time to attend - it truly makes a difference.

Please PM or email me with your contact info so that we can get you on board.

Thank you!!!

The Sacramento City council has a record for sneaking in "held over" items so we'll need to remain vigilant on this. There have been many times before where I spent hours calling city council reps and writting letters, only to have the "held over" items quietly voted on just a few months later.

STAY FOCUSED. These gun control measures will return by fall I guarantee it.

The Sac city council a while back did have a vote on the gun theft/loss reporting and decided to write an ordinance. That was on the video I think from last fall. This current ordinance up for vote would be the one they decided to write back then and its just now ready.
I'm thinking it was one of the video's Mike Haas posted.

There is a one click setup for this item, everyone needs to hit this one.

Unlike the polls that were fun but accomplished little, this one means something.

I received a letter from the City stating that these ordinances will indeed be heard on May 15.
