An article in the current NRA magazines First Freedom and American Rifleman (sorry found no on line link) by NRA President David A. Keene highlights recent local jurisdiction officials ignoring the protections of FOPA. This is a major issue that has the attention of the NRA President, and has moved him to write the article. For those of you who get the magazines, do read it. It recounts the events of gun owners who happen to travel through NYC and Chicago, running afoul of local law while strictly complying with FOPA laws for transporting their weapons.

This is the very same issue raised in this forum at the time it occurred, only to be moved to the "Off Topic" forum where it died of obscurity. The mods here deamed it not a 2A issue because of the mention of the victims political affiliations. If the President of the NRA believes it pertinent to 2A, so should the mods on this forum.

These laws are only as good as the politicians and police that enforce them.... Thats all I am going to say.

And yet in these cases, they did enforce them and place otherwise law abiding gun owners in peril of losing their rights. The mods on this forum selectively choose which victims of civil rights abuse they will allow public discussion and support of. Enlightened participants should notice the incidious signs of political censorship and watch the motives of those who practice it. The second protects the first, but neither can stand alone.

Just read this tonight, and no surprise here with the games those in the city/county play to get around preventing 2nd amendment advancement.

Your'e right, no surprise on both issues in this thread. Local politicians feel free to violate the civil rights of anyone they choose, and the moderators on this forum choose to censor posts because of the political beliefs of the victims of those abuses. Better to be properly politically aligned than to stand up for the rights of those who are not.

As I said before, the first amendment is protected by the second amendment, but neither can stand alone. Abuses of the first by anyone will surely result in the demeaning of the second. The fact that the mods here choose to let those who's political beliefs are not aligned, stand alone without support should alarm many, but alas, that does not seem to be the case.
