View Full Version : FFL in LA/SGV for interstate/intrafamilial transfer of off-roster handgun?

My father who lives outside of CA would like to gift me a handgun. The first two FFLs I spoke to weren't aware of the process. Is there there anyone comfortable with and willing to do this kind of transfer? Would he be able to ship it to you himself or would you need him to ship through an FFL?

If you are willing to come to Thousand Oaks, we can help you. Give us a call at 877-905-2673.

You might have the local FFLs contact the CA DOJ so that they can understand the process. What I was told by the CA DOJ, on the phone, was to process it as exempt and put intrafamilial transfer in the comments section. You can refer them to this thread and there is also the wiki.
I can do the transfer, also Fort Courage Armory, in Simi Valley. I would expect all FFLs here to accept firearms directly from a private party, but typically a copy of an ID is required by the FFL.
