My RIA Tactical is currently wearing hogue rubber wrap-around grips. Comfy, but I'd like to try "regular" grips (but not the stock crappy wood ones that came with it ... too smooth and round). The wrap arounds are a bit fat. I'd like to try a thinner grip.

But when I look at 1911 grips, they are stupid expensive. I know, some people don't thing $65 for grips is expensive, but I do!

Anything around $20 for something basic but not crap? Thanks!

I would say to check ebay. They have tons of grips there. You can also go to hogue auction. They have a bunch of factory seconds for $20 or less. They have pics of the grips you will get. http://www.hogueauction.com/browse.php?id=95

Try a hogue regular grip. It's what comes on the kimbers I think. Anything else decent like G10s are gonna be like 60-70 bucks.

I have these on one of my RIAs...

Look and feel much better than the RIA stock grips.

I have Ergo grips on my 1911. I really like them (super grippy). They were like $25.

Hey, local whiny guy! (said with much love and sarcasm)
What are you after?
Nice wood, cheap wood, smooth, tactical, combat, or double diamond checkered, rubber, plastic, or G10? I have all kinds of grips. Since we're not far apart, I'd be willing to meet you sometime and let you try some different styles of grips on your pistol to see what floats your boat. That way you can decide what you really like/want before spending money on something you may not like. PM me.

I bought these golf ball dimpled grips at Strike Industries. Cost less than $25 delivered to my door. They feel great in the hand and they look good too.

Personally, I wouldn't skimp on grips or anything else that contributes to the ergonomics of the pistol, so I'd suggest waiting for a set of used VZ or Larry Davidson grips to surface at a price that's affordable to you.

Who makes/sells a reasonably priced 1911 grip?

Just about everybody. The $20 part might be limiting. Might try used. I got a pretty nice set for about that right here on the forum.
