I'm thinking of buying a "custom" Colt 45 from the factory. Colt told me that the SN signifies a custom order delivered in 2/2004. They also said that the "base' model used is a M1991A1 but it is now a model O1091Z, because of the custom order.

How's that work with the roster? Is this considered a M1991 or ?? Is it legal to transfer in? Thanks all.

Sounds like you want to buy this from Colt directly, right?

This is a model 01091Z and some are on the roster

01991Z Custom M1991 A1 (America Remembers) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 9/8/2012
01991Z Custom M1991A1 (NRA 2011 Gun of the Year) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 6/16/2012
01991Z Custom M1991A1 (USMA 2011) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP 4/17/2012

The one you want would need to be one of these or you would need to be roster exempt. Your last hope if the gun you want is not listed and you are not roster exempt is to do a SSE. I don't know if Colt will ship a non-rostered gun to CA for SSE.

Good luck.

The actual gun was shipped in 2/2004. It's the "Don't Tread on Me" gun. Colt says it's now a Model O1091Z made from a M1991A1 Ser 80.

NONE OF THESE???!!!

01091 M1991A1 Ser 80 / Stainless Steel (matte) Pistol 5" .45 ACP
01991 M1991A1 Ser 80 (Matte Blue) / Steel (matte blue) Pistol 5" .45 ACP
01991AR Custom M1991A1 (America Remembers) / Blue Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP
01991Z Custom M1991 A1 (America Remembers) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP
01991Z Custom M1991A1 (NRA 2011 Gun of the Year) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP
01991Z Custom M1991A1 (USMA 2011) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP

Would the 01991Z Custom M1991A1 (USMA 2011) / Steel Pistol 5" .45 ACP somehow capture the "Don't Tread on Me" gun?

Is there any chance that a law can be any more ludicrous? It's just brain dead!

Nope. It has to match exactly. Your best bet is gonna be the SSE. If Colt won't ship it here you might need to have it shipped to a FFL out of CA and have them ship it to CA for the SSE conversion.

Wrong. Morcarr, I've repeatedly told you that this can happen in CA.

A CA FFL can do single-shot Roster exemptions using drop-in parts, and many are doing so.

I know that. But you didn't read everything I posted.

You can't make them ship a gun here if they don't want to.
