I could be wrong, but I doubt the gang-bangers openned fire with a "automatic" (machine) gun.

AP reports:

Shooting at Nickelodeon Awards After-Party
AP
LOS ANGELES (April 1) - Shots were fired at a party attended mostly by teenagers early Sunday following the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, wounding three people, and police said they suspected gang members were involved.

The party in the western part of the city was thrown by someone who had attended the awards, but it was not an official Nickelodeon function and had no celebrity guests, police Lt. Roger Deranian said.

No arrests had been made by Sunday morning, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at a drapery store rented for the party, which drew about 200 young people, Deranian said.

At least one person opened fire with an automatic weapon on the crowd after a group of five was denied entry, he said.

The three victims were hit below the waist and did not face life threatening injuries, he said. They were taken to a hospital.

The annual awards show for the children's television cable channel aired live Saturday and was hosted by Justin Timberlake .

The AP, and the media in general, do everything they can every time they can to demonize firearms in the news. There's always a "gunned down," or "hail of bullets," or "automatic weapon" in the news when there is any kind of a crime committed with a gun.

This is nothing new......the problem is that the subhuman reporters/editors are so deeply entrenched that it is going to be difficult to ever get rid of them. It's almost a prerequesite that a journalist be socialist/communist before they are through school, let alone working for a news agency.

Dude, even Fox News screws-up stories like that. It's not a leftist symptom - it's a public symptom.

Yup. They say "fair and balanced" since they have people like Hannity and O'Reilly on, but they are not right-wing. They're just not as far left on some things as some other news organizations.

Thank god none of the celebrity automaton's weren't hurt. Then perhaps it would have been a real tragedy what with all the hollywood role models getting hurt. What will our children do if there isn't a celebrity icon to worship in leiu of values and morals.

The liberal media truly is subversive. Each and every story is filled with propaganda.

Note:
Beware of any news source, because unless you were there, you are only getting someone else's opinion of the facts.

Guys, if you're going to ***** about terminology, at least pick up a dictionary.

Since it was probably a handgun, and unlikely a single shot or revolver, it is very likely "automatic" is a technically correct term for the weapon used, ie a Glock "fo-tay".

automatic weapons sell news papers, boy scouts attending a day at the range don't. The news media is not about reporting the truth or enlighting fellow man on global events. Its about selling adds to the masses and telling us why we should care about paris, brintny, and anna-nichole.

The source that you quoted for correct terms calls a Magazine a "CLIP" so I do not hold them in very high regard when it comes to correct terms.

And the only individual that calls a 40SW by the name "Fo-tay" is either uneducated, Ignorant, or a gang banger or all of the above which ever applies.

BTW since you forgot the  In your post I added it for you as you cant be serious about this BS that you have quoted.

The only rolleyes I need are to your response.

"Fo-tay": was tongue in cheek, and I put in in quotes to denote it as such.

Any gun person should know any "semi-auto" pistol is also an "automatic", especially before they criticize a writer for using the term. "Automatic" was actually the first term used to describe it. Hello, ever heard of Colt Automatics like the 1911?

Do you believe Colt? Do you know what "ACP" stands for? (Or GAP)

http://www.coltautos.com/cainstructions.htm

Click on the "original factory instruction sheets" link.

Click on the "Government model..." link and see the original instructions.

At the top:

"Component Parts Government Model, Colt's Automatic Pistol--Caliber .45"

I don't understand people who get all pedantic about "magazine" verbage anyway. Most military people I know, interchange "clip" and "magazine" quite freely...

How about dictionary.com? They mention the origin for the term "automatic pistol" is in the 1870s...long before fully auto pistols existed.
