Took the Bushmaster rifle I've been having issues with out today and look what I found, corrosion! I oiled it as I do with all my other rifles and they didn't rust.

That sucks! Try using some CLP and then cleaning it off after awhile then reapply a thin coat.
If all else fails, refinish!

seems like operator neglect to me no offense. I have seen cheapies with very poor finishes hold up better when they are maintained. Same thing with the remington 870 express people complain about. The finish is piss poor but if you maintain it you have no issues

Not operator neglect tyvm. My 1990 mfg rem 870 is pristine and I've carried it through 10 western Nebraska winters hunting upland game and water foul. But I appreciate the jab any way. It keeps me on my toes.

Not a jab, I just haven't ever had any gun that I maintained do that. Even DIY home parked rifles...

Phosphated/Parkerized guns need to be protected with oil.I have bought hunting rifles cheap in that condition.I have to soak them a day with KanoKroil, wipe, repeat until the rust comes up.Takes several days usually. In the end, there is nothing wrong.I am pretty sure any manufacturer is going to tell you about how to take care of your gun. That issue is not on their list as a factory problem. What does the bore look like?

Brush and CLP. If it's not pitted, which it shouldn't be, it will come right off.

Looks like worn finish more than anything. Had my bm for about 7 yrs no issues at all. I maintain it, but I also kind of treat it like an ak too.

Rust never sleeps always coat with layers of oil. Especially after touching it.
