Title says it all!
I went in and bought a hipoint on the 13th, then added a keltec sub2k they said just pay for it on pick up day.
I called in today to find out which mags it takes "it takes beretta" and the guy says bring in $499+tax.
When I was there on the 13th I swear it was priced at $399. Wtf?
Would you pay $499?

Nope. Ugly as sin.

Normally that doesnt matter to me, but that thing is just nasty looking.

I had one. With shipping and FFL fees I paid around $500, that was about 2 years ago.

Thats pretty close to what I have in mine. But I have the railed forend and an RDS. Were you wanting one that takes Beretta mags? Are you willing to spend that much for a gun that is already Ca. compliant or would you want to spend almost that much + the headache of trying to get one shipped here? Go with what you want to do they are fun, practical little ruck/truck guns.

Considering that they are somewhat scarce, I wouldn't say that the price is outrageous. They aren't the prettiest thing in the world but it's what I'd go with if I wanted a pistol caliber carbine. If I could find a glock version in So Cal, I'd probably buy one.

Thats what I wanted was a glock version in 9mm, when I called today to confirm not only is is it not g version its now a 40cal. I dont want it for hd or anything like that I wanted it for plinking only w cheap 9mm anmo.
Im gonna cancel that one and just go with the hipoint.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Once I have a bad experience somewhere, I never go back. There's a bunch of stores in SD that I refuse to go to. Hope your Hipoint is what you paid for! Good luck and post some pics of it when you get it!

The subs are hard to get. There was a used one here a few weeks ago and it sold quickly for $500. It was set for Glock 9mm, can't remember if 17 or 19.

I want one, but will wait. Hopefully Kel-tec ups production.

@gary13
Yeah i'd pay $499 if it was what they told me it was!
But major prob is they said it was 9mm and when I called today they say its a 40cal, I aint plinking with no 40cal lol thats for my baby glock

Dude get a Ruger PC9 or PC4 those guns are pretty solid feelin and right at the $500 price point. Those keltechs are jus kinda "meh!" an those hi-points are even uglier!

Side note: seems a .40 carbine would work great for nor-cal size wild pigs.

the hi-point is the ugliest weapon I've ever seen. I really looks as if someone threw a rifle in a fireplace, waited a few minutes, then pulled it out and said, "done".

I love mine. As far as asthetics goes, it's not THAT ugly. Maybe a little, but I can fold it in half and stick it in a backpack if I want. I think of it as a functional novelty. It's super fun to shoot, but the front site isn't my favorite. I paid a total of around $500 after having it shipped to Riflegear (about a year ago).

no, ugly as a pile of dog crap, ergonomics of a plunger, MSRP is only $400, and the one I shot(a .40 cal that used S&W magazines) had major issues with steel cased ammo.

They might not get as much respect as Kel-tec, but I would rather have a Hi-point carbine.

Might want to ask if the $499 is a mistake. MSRP on the Kel-Tec site is $409.

Bit hard to believe they would ask almost 25% over list.

Just a thought.

Its no mistake, I just looked at my reciept and I paid the same for the hipoint too.

I would probably hold off till you find the deal that you want. I'm sure the hi point will suffice for a while.

Yeah I think im gonna just stick with the HiPoint for now, I tend to go a little overboard when it comes to things that catch my interest!
Anyways i'm prob just gonna build another ak kit to scratch the itch i'm having

Damn.... I only paid $289 for my 9MM sub w Glock mags just a few years ago. It's a great shooter and accurate weapon. Very compact. Can't believe they have gone up so much.

For what it's worth there is a TNP series on pistol caliber carbines on youtube and the kel-tec crushed the competition. The High Point included. Still, if you don't want to pay, you shouldn't.

Dude...

Seriously.

You need to find yourself a good kitchen table FFL.

I paid $400 recently for a KT S2K and I like it but that was for the CA-ready model and people have bought them just over $300 without the CA package.

The issue is they are a little scarce and a brick & mortar dealer that latches onto one is going to squeak every dime of profit possible out of them. They figure someone wants it bad enough to pay the freight. Ka-ching.

Find a Kitchen table FFL and be patient. It will take you a while to find that KT S2K but when one comes available don't say "Yeah, next payday..." NO don't even think about it for 5 minutes if it's what you want... tell the man SOLD and whip out cash or plastic or your checkbook and nail it right there, right then. Because the next customer to click that site or hit that counter will do it if you don't.

Just giving you what I HOPE is some good advice if you really want a Glock S2K in 9mm. That's the most popular model of a VERY popular gun, simply because KT doesn't have a huge production facility and they only make so many per year. You have to take a different approach than with guns you can buy anywhere, any time, just a matter of preference... this is more like a hunting expedition. Certainly, don't "gut shoot" your quary to have it crawl off somewhere and die a miserable death (such as buying a model you don't want for an outrageous price) but do bring all your gun shopping skill to the experience and exercise patience and you will bag one eventually.

Here is a PC9 I just traded for a .22 target rifle. Came with a total of five mags. Three were old Pachmayer Ruger pistol mags. They didn't function well until I put new wolfe +10% springs in. Someone must have had them loaded for fifteen years in a gun safe. All work great now. Put a SIG Red Dot on top with a rail adapter from Brownells. Great gun. I was surprised how beefy it is.
This and my AR in 9mm are great fun. The AR from RRA is more accurate but this one is handier.
That said, I would like to give a Keltec sub 2000 a try for fun. Don't feel bad about the price. Gun World in Burbank has one for $795. You get a free colonoscopy while they are in there.
Since they started making bullet button adapters for these I am interested in owning one.
The Sig Red dot is really nice. Sturdy. 4moa, bright. Someone was blowing them out on Amazon for a $135. I loaded up and got a couple. Good deal and backed by SIG.

I paid $375 + fees for my G19 variant S2K. It's my favorite non-pistol in the collection. Yes it is ugly, no it doesn't matter.

Function is beautiful. I can't wait until I move to Washington this year, then I can pull the bullet button off and use my 33-round happy sticks again.

Shark,
If you get the 9 mm that take the 92fs mags you can put me down for one.
