I popped my cherry at the last Costa Mesa gun show.....bought a Mosin-nagant M44.....I didnt really know what I bought until I got home and did the research. For the money I spent it was worth the gamble. Its a 1946 "izzy" from what I learned so far...the other marks I am still learning about. Anyways, $200 for the gun, sling, and 20 rds of ammo. Best part I think, no cosmoline to clean. Have not shot it yet....but I'm chomping at the bit. Hoping to find a K98 or Yugo Mauser at the Ontario show this weekend...

200 cash and carry is good. I don't remember exactly what AIM was selling them for but it was around 200.

Be warned Mosin Nagants multiply as you will surely wan't one of each variant.

Awwww.....getting the first C&R and not having to figure out how to clean all that cosmo out is cheating. It's like a rite of passage.

Congrats though. Look into getting a C&R license now.

Way ahead of you on the C&R license....they took my money last week so the license should show I guess in another couple of weeks. By the way, what do you guys mean by AIM? thanks....

Nice. However, don't be so sure you don't have any cosmo to clean. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there. I fully disassemble and inspect every gun I purchase.

Be patient Skywalker.

Btw you need a locking cabinet for your gun(s). Not legally........the other one.

Where does one find a deal like that at a gun show? I never find sellers willing to part with their C&Rs unless its for top dollar.

Ontario gun show went well for me......scored me number #2 Mosin nagant 91/30 HEX receiver, Tula...appears to be a re-barrel as its stamped 1943 on barrel whereas receiver is 1936. Anyways, perhaps I paid a little too much but I'm happy with it. the gun, ammo pouch, and 20 rds of ammo for $200.

You guys are right...this is addicting....I tried to buy a couple MK1 enfields...one had date stamp of 1944 and the other was wipped out. Both around the $280 mark....both dealers wanted to DROS them out...I'll just wait for my license so I passed, i'm sure i'll get another chance at one.

Small show, but not too bad.....Hope others had good luck too.

OP, you did very well with post war M-44 for that price. I'm assuming that the gun is in relatively good shape of course...

And once you go C&R you wont go back. Modern commercial stuff will never be as cool.

Get a K-31 before they're gone. I was skeptical and I have been healed and I see the light.

Even then, when you think you got it all... You'll go shooting and it'll heat up... then every little crevice will begin leaking the stuff. Bring a rag.
