I have a Colt police Positive 38 S&W (not special) pistol for sale. Thinning my heard out a little.

Condition is good. Some minor rust pitting. Serial # is in the pictures. Picture of front site to decide if it is a target or standard model.

I don't know a bunch about this weapon other than i inherited it years ago and it's sat in my safe ever since.

are there anymore serial numbers on the gun? and do they match whats on the side of the frame ?
that does not look factory, it could be a police inventory number or someones drivers license number
the front sight, i believe, should be rounded, and not have the flat front, i could be wrong though.
and guessing age of gun looks 1950s, i believe colt used those plastic/bakelite type grips during that time period.

I'm in the process of moving, so the gun safe is loaded on a truck. :(. I'll examine it more carefully this weekend when i get my safe back.

Thanks for the input.

I may be wrong but I thought Police Positive production ended at WWII.

Serial number should be at bottom of grip
