View Full Version : Out of staters bequeathing guns to a Californian

My wife and I are hammering out a will. My guns go to my son. There are two he can't have. A Glock 19 w/15 round mag and a S&W PC M&P 15 w/two 30 round mags.
The rest are pinned and recessed Smiths, out of production Colts, etc.
Is there any problem with leaving him these in my will? (I guess he'd have to sell the AR & Glock for whatever out of state.)

He can get both the Glock and M&P.
He can receive both guns here with no magazines.
The M&P needs to have a magazine lock added to it before it gets sent to CA, a popular one is called a Bullet Button, although there are others.
The magazines are where it gets a little complicated.
Assembled, the 15 and 30 round mags (any mag over 10 rounds) cannot be sent into CA.
You can take them apart and they can legally be sent to CA as spare parts.
Or, to make it really simple, since the mags are cheap and readily available, just dispose of them locally and let him buy new 10 round CA legal mags here.
Why do you seem to think he can't have the Glock or M&P? Only the magazines are prohibited, and legal mags are made for both firearms.

^ I talk to people all over the country almost everyday about gun laws.
Nobody can understand why I don't sell the 50 round drums and other 10+ mags.
Everyone is confused about CA law.
