I was looking through youtube and stumbled on this (link below) Is it legal? Has anyone tried it?

As long you happen to have a pre-ban 10/22 mag and it is within the legal length I don't see why it wouldn't be legal on a rimfire. Simply a stock change.

A 10 round 10/22 mag wouldn't work??

The mag is waaay up inside the gun with this conversion.
So, a 20-25-30 round mag is longer and easier to get in and out.

Sorry for the shameless plug, but I do sell a lot of my dummy stick mag extensions to all states for use in these and other types of conversions where the magazine is hard to reach.

Make sure your OAL stays over 26" and it's legal.

A 10 round 10/22 mag wouldn't work?? No, a 10 round rotary mag would work, but it would be a huge PITA inserting and removing it in this application. Hence the hi-cap mag and the extended mag release used.

Also, why wasn't this posted in the rimfire forum?

No that is why he said 26". Rimfire have different laws then centerfire.

talk to Defcon. he is the sort of cal guns conversion king. he is the one with the m249, m82 barrets and some other conversions he has done with marlins using airsoft bodies.

here's my latest .22 dress up kit with a 10/22 ruger

also click on my thread discussing "ATF/DOJ ruling or local laws on aftermarket dress up kits/stock"

Here's my other .22 dress up stocks for the Barrett M82 using a 10/22 ruger

Sign up at customrifles.info. You'll find a lot more .22 dress up kits over there. Mainly ruger 10/22's and Marlin 795's

I called Los Angeles ATF and said they dont see anything wrong with the dress up kit. just dont make it an assault rifle regarding 16" minimum length, 26" minimum overall length, 10 round magazine limit, no short barreled rifle, no suppressor

I'm still sending a letter out to the ATF tech branch to get an official letter in writing.

Also called CA DOJ said they dont recognize aftermarket dress up kits. the supervisor said to make sure its NOT an assault weapon in regards to Class 3 / Title II and to follow Penal code 30515 which is pretty much mainly for centerfire.
