View Full Version : What is 4/15?

I searched and found tons of threads that mention 4/15 but none explaining what it is.
I see it referenced on almost everything AR related.
I'm sure I'll get flamed for being dumb, but it will be worth it if someone will enlighten me.
Thanks

Just a guess, April 15th? It seems logical but I could be way off...

No, I know it has something to do with an AR configuration. I was thinking some thread pattern???

4" muzzle device (brake, fh, shroud, suppressor, etc...) & 15" barrel?

I guess you might need the extra length 1 to make the barrel legal and 2, to make the gun 30" overall in shortest config. I'm more used to seeing 14.5"+4" setups though. Hate those things... so damned loud.

4" muzzle device? I have 3 AR's and none of them have a 4" muzzle device.
Are you sure that is what it is?

I think I found it. It is referencing M4/AR15. Luckily UTG references it in EVERYTHING they make.
I'm pretty sure it just means carbine lengthed AR15's.

From what I seen as 4/15, I think it's the AR hand guard being a quad rail.

Fits Rifle Length Model 4/15

That means it fits Model M4/AR15.

Someone PM'd me with confirmation (so not to embarrass me lol)

@ over 25 years with the M16/AR15 platform this is the first time I have seen 4/15 used to describe the system. Its not even accurate terminology...frankly its freaking idiots r-us stupid for them to use it.

I never heard of 4/15 before but that's not saying much. If DP has never heard of it I'd bet it's something recently made up.

well at least we have it cleared up... it's just like calling an argentine mauser an argy or a dissipator upper a dissy. It's just colloquialisms gone wrong.

and socalbowhunter: no, read the punctuation. It was a question, nay a suggestion of a possibility but definitely not an answer.

No embarrassment or fault goes to you. This is poor terminology and anyone would question WTH they are talking about.

All My Lowers are C/R compliant. WTH is dieselpower saying...his lowers are C&R? His lowers are legal in California and Russia? No, I am saying they are all able to fit on Carbine and Rifle uppers...

Rifle Length Model 4/15 is complete fail if they mean M4/AR15. Is their Model 4/15 a Rifle or a Carbine? What is their Carbine Model called?? Or is their whole line called Model 4/15 and it comes in either Rifle or Carbine length?

Last time this happened I was sitting in a theater in Ashland Oregon waiting for a play to start. I was in high school. Anyway, we were yelling back and forth with some other students and some girl spouted off her birthday. I got chills. I started asking her questions but, I already knew te answers. She was born on 4/14/66 just like me and SHE WAS BORN IN THE SAME HOSPITAL just outside of San Francisco. It was a freaky experience.

My first guess was going to be Eugene Stoner's birthdate, but according to Wiki, it's Nov 22, 1922.

However, considering other events that happened on November 22, I wouldn't use that number to describe anything gun-related. :TFH:
