Been looking at few local shops. I hardly see any used (70's /80's) clean Smith and Wesson revolvers .38/357 K/L frame/

Where did they all go ?

Shooting4life bought 'em all... :(

ASC had a VERY nice pre lock 4" 686 last week (IIRC). Probably lasted a day in the case. I snagged my 686 no dash before the ink was dry on the price tag. Gotta be in the right place at the right time.

Gotta be vigilant, know what you're after. Cash in hand is always a good negotiating tool. Do research. Some are selling some real dawgs at collector prices. Don't get burned.

They are not on the roster so internet is out unless you want to jump through hoops. Supply is short, demand is high. Prices are high too. :(

Last weekend I saw quite a few at San Jose Gun Exchange - lots of J frames including a 34 and maybe 8 K & L frames, maybe 4 or 5 N frames. There was a 6" 586 for $495.00 in great shape. I was already buying something else (Winchester 88) or would have grabbed something.

Krausewerk in SM has a few too.

What I almost NEVER see , are the stainless K/L frames. Pre lock/MIM 38/357 with 2 , 21/2 and 3 inch barrels. 64,65,66 and 686.

I do see J frames and 6 inch barrel or longer K/L/N sometimes.

In the last year, a bunch of 64s and 65s hit the market. It seems that 66s are the new thing. J&G has a bunch right now, but the price is a little high.
I managed to snag a 3" 65 for $350 otd. I missed the cheap 2" 64s though.

Gotta be in the right place at the right time.

Sorry. I get most of mine front out of state through the single action conversion. Here are a few 357 I have purchased in the last year or so.

Like Fishslayer said its all about timing. I managed to get a 19 recently for 350. I would rate it about 90%. Saw the guy come into the gunstore and asked if he was selling. Luckily he was and did the ftf transaction there. It worked out for me that the shop was busy so I was the only one that saw him walk in. There was also this 586 no dash for 525. I didn't have any money on me and said to myself that I would come back. Came back two days later and was gone, I shouldof bought it. Luckily the wife thinks all revovlers are the same so she still believes I only have two.

Revolvers, and particularly older S&W models are getting more and more popular. Saw a bunch of used at the Denver gun show last month, but prices were high.

I had the chance to buy a 520 a few years back at the old Castro Valley Guns Store. Still in the box, they wanted $495.00 for the thing.

"No thanks - too much .... and I don't like 4" barrels."

Never had much trouble finding shorter barreled stuff, have recently bought older models 66 in 2.5", 3" 657 and 3" Model 29. I guess it's just timing & luck.
