Taken from a different forum post but relevant here at Calguns too.

This probably has been posted on here already but I might have missed it.
I think this is important for all of us, regardless of what state we currently live in.

www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/409898348?ltl=1173226356

The goal is to get 1,000,000 signatures. So far there are over 32,000 signatures. I signed it. You guys (& ladies) should too.

Their true intention is to eventually disarm us. They use words like "terrorism", "Homeland Security", "Law Enforcement PROTECTION Act" to blind and fool the masses into supporting a noble effort by our government to make us "safer". Most of us on here know their game so I'll stop my ranting :o

Signed!

Note that 1022 is nasty:

BANS:

"All semi-automatic shotguns; all detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifles; the most popular competition sporting rifles -- including the Colt AR-15, the Springfield M1A and even today's version of the American infantryman's rifle of World War II, the M1 Garand; any shotgun or semi-automatic rifle having "any characteristic that can function as a grip"; any automatic fixed-magazine pistol exceeding a ten-round capacity; and any parts needed to repair or refurbish guns in circulation that are covered under the ban."

1312 has nothing to do with today, that was last years session. Nobody wants to signon to 1022, might mean an early political death if they do.

Did you say nobody wants to sign on to HR1022 ?

OK I guess these are just ghosts then right ?

They didn't learn their lesson from 1994 it seems.

The ones in red are the ones that need to be called or written and let them know they just lost your vote the next time they come up for re election.

Sorry I'm not stupid enough to think that there is such a thing as a conservative DemocRAT.

I Hate all politicians equally up to a point but Hate the gun grabbers with extended ZEAL.

I think we're riding in the same boat here SAS. . . . . . About 95% of them could disappear and I wouldn't shed a tear. Probably be the best thing that could ever happen to this country. . . .

signed a while back already. Guys let's keep this thread alive. All members here should sign. You can be annonymous if you're afraid of the late night knock at the door.:D

This 1022 will not see the light of day if we all pitch in. Call your congress tool rep, too. Be polite & tell them to get real & go after the criminals & apply the laws that we have on hand already, already. Leave the law abiding citizens alone.

At least one with "selective" destruction ...only certain addresses that is.

Waste of time.

Online petitions are worth the paper they're printed on.

They're especially dangerous because people actually think they have done something - instead of the more valuable activity of burning up staff time by calling, faxing and writing their representatives.

While the original author probably never meant this online petition to be the front-line of defense for saving our 2nd Amendment rights, it may kindle peoples further involvement in doing exactly what you mentioned; call, fax, write their representatives.

Simply adding a name to an online petition will not accomplish our goal but griping about it accomplishes even less. There are more positive ways to get people motivated. ;)

Just signed, my comment:

I believe the constitution says "...the right of the people to keep and bear arms", concise and to the point. It does *not* say the right of the people to keep certain arms that the government decides are acceptable only after a routine annual reevaluation process and the right to only bear them under certain conditions in specific places.
