so i'm going featureless with my AR. i pinned my stock caveman style. is this legit? here's a pic:

the bolt goes through the pre-existing holes preventing the lever from being activated and the metal plate forms a "U" shape to disable pulling the lever. it's only held together by a nut and a bolt.

Shot of charcoal grey automotive primer and you're good to go. Creative solution to the problem!

Might make a good court case. But what about the pistol grip? Please do tell about your plans to remove other evil features.

Oops. PWS556 is also a flash suppressor. No good on a featureless. Sorry for the bad news.

I did my research. Its a verified compensator. If you go to the PWS website, it provides a signed letter from the BATF saying its not a flash hider.

EDIT: here's the link

BATFE letter bears no weight when it comes to the CADOJ. This has been discussed here ad infinitum.

Do as you wish, but be forewarned of the consequences. AW charges are no joke.

Sorry, not trying to rain on your parade.

Nice mod on the stock, btw.

Yup BATF is federal....you would still be in violation of ca law the way its written. Argue all you want "this has been debated to death" but ide just get a MB only evice and play it safe and not risk the felony.

Stock looks good, but the PWS FSC stands for Flash Suppressing Compensator so I would stay away from it. Instead, I got the PWS TTO. Same comp characteristics of the FSC, but without the flash suppressing. Makes great fireballs, too.

Can anyone tell the difference just looking at them? Serious question, not trying to be a dick.

Yes. Look at them and the difference should be obvious.

I feel the PWS PSC and the Magpul PRS fall in the same boat of "Who wants to be the test case and do you have the resources (emotional and financial) to challenge this in court?"

In both cases I would really like to believe they are legal but I personally cannot afford to be the test case.

The stock is a no go since you can still pull the locking pin down with a pair of pliers.

What a bummer. Once again...i hate CA laws....love the weather though :cool2:

Well in that case any pinning of a stock would be a no go as it would take a tool/tools to reverse the pinning correct? Rivets can be drilled, pried off with a hammer and screwdriver, screws and bolts can be removed with basic hand tools, basically nothing is permanent with the right tools. Not trying to start a war or anything, but how permanent is permanent?

Creative, but how much weight does that add to your gun?

get a dremel and cut off the crown, making it like a TTW PWS =)

But yes, the PWS 556 has been discussed several times that it is in fact an illegal attachment for your featureless.....

btw, OP, paint that thing and making it more sleek. What grip fin do you have for your featureless?

Go with this =)

The guys are right PWS FSC is no go for featureless due to Hunt v. Lockyer.

Pinned stock looks legal. Paint it with truck bed liner or something :)

Cool, what wrap is that? Is it really CF?

peter95

Not real cf, it's a cf fabric that is used to wrap interior parts and exterior automotive parts.
High quality and expensive imo.
Can even be used and put resin on top.

You can even tell if it's fake or not even when you have it in your hands. It's made by 3m

Im shure if you tried you could pull the locking pin down with your fingers. Who know maybe you could get the courts to believe your fingers are considered a tool
