Well now that I have a K31 swiss, 98k Mauser on the threshold, SKS, M1 Garand on the radar so Figure why not just get the Rest of the WW2 rifles?

I had a 28 Izz 91/30 but sold it because the SKS bit my head off. So anybody got any recommendations on one?

Keep in my mind still up on the air for going to J&G Sales on getting one.

If you can go to JG and get one that it twice the fun. But if you want a good mosin nagant shooter get a Finnish mosin nagant. SOG has m39 if you have a C&R.

I bought my mosin on here for a great deal, its an Izzy and shoots like a champ. I can pop clay pigeons at 50-100 yards no prob. A lot more accurate than most people give it credit for.

You only have a partial list of WWII rifles...
Arisaka
Carcano
M1903A3
etc.

You're only Limited by your Checkbook & Imagination!

SKS & K31 are WWII?

You need to add to the above list an M1 Carbine, Enfield No 4 Mk I or II and a Lithgow No 1 Mk III, Mas 36 and a VZ-24.

Crunch

K31 is, although it didn't see any combat due to swiss neutrality.

The SKS sort of is, prototypes saw limited action in 1945.

God Bless you Mosin :) Some one knows their stuff.

Yes that is correct. SKS saw action on the eastern front in 1945. Only problem was those were prototypes and only 3-4 of those exist in the world. Next in line would be 1949 which are really hard to find. But yup it counts.

Yeah Arisaka, Einfield, M1 Carbine, all next but that is way way down the road!!! lol

You'll have to do the 10-wait but you'll have the chance to look at it before you buy it. Just one option

I love my Mosins and such, but if you're used to a 98k or a K-31, you'll be a little underwhelemed, lol.

As I like to say, Mosins are an acquired taste!

K98, worse sights, in fact they suck. When Hitler started to conscript the elderly with substandard eyesight, it was OH VER.

K31, more expensive ammo, and some of their vaunted accuracy is a result of that excellent ammo. And don't forget the Swiss defensive "battle plan" is for the army to run to the hills. This might work if the invaders are a civilized as the Swiss. No one is.

Everything has its place. Btw I found I could shoot my 91/30 (an ex dragoon) as well as my M39 at 400~ yards so I sold the M39 to a lucky Calgunner. There might be a difference with match ammo but I am not going to buy any.

Collecting a passel of WW2 rifles requires an ammo and storage budget too.

If you do happen to buy from JG's they will handpick a very nice unit for those few extra bucks.

Sorry bro but I don't think any surplus can out shoot my Swiss. Latigo can clarify the accuracy of the k31
I have owned a round. Mosin nagant but time for a hex. Now u know why I want the shoulder pad

The M39 rifles deal with recoil very well. Very accurate and soft shooting. If you find an extra nice one it might even out shoot your K31.....

For a first Mosin, and I say first because that's all it takes for the addiction to start, get a M-39.

I think J&G is limited on the octagon rifles right now, but you could call them. Or you could head out on the field trip with TheExpertish/Gadsden and pick one out :) They're so cheap it's not possible to own just one. Don't expect a better shooting experience than your other rifles provide, but enjoy none the less....
I've had good luck with both J&G and AIM, have not tried SOG yet but they are next on the list...

I was fixin to suggest aimsurplus, but apparently they are all out of hex recievers, and laminate stocks........., and round recievers.

they still have those ugly duckling nagant revolvers though

I'm just talking about the overall rifles.

I personally LOVE Soviet Mosin, and they are the gun I have the most aggregate centerfire experience with. It was my first, and I will never forget that.

The sights on the Mauser, are yeah, not the best. I don't like the 91/30's either, but they work.

I will probably be buying an M-39 at some point this year.

:iagree:

If you just want A Mosin and you are undecided, then the group buy is the way to go! With those prices, you can't lose.
