So i picked one of these up on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002TUSK0Q/ref=oh_o06_s00_i00_details

worked great on my yugo sks... but failed on my russian and romanian

the shroud got in the way and it didnt seat properly on the sight. i tried messing with it and only ended up marring the sight a little bit :(

yes i could probably file this one down and make it work but i wanted to see if anyone purchased a different model and had it work out of the box\package

Thanks in advance!

I think Josh's might work. I don't have his link off hand.

mmm well besides the fact its a yugo what else is wrong with the tool? It is not catching the front sight?

this is what I use on my Chinese and Russians and works well.

It worked fine on the yugo. it was the russian and romanians that had issues with it. Elevation adjustment was fine... windage at the problem. The tool was too thick and the sight shroud did not allow for it to sit flush on the sight. since it would not sit flush, i wasnt able to adjust windage.

have you adjusted windage on your russian ones with that?

ahh yes I have. Well problem is you could have a bunch of junk in there too. Spray some C.L.P on the wind age part. Even if its not flushed it will still be able to move.

Other things you can try is hammer and punch, or I use this SKS tool. http://www.leverarms.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/500x500/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/s/k/sks_front_sight_adjustment_tool.jpg

For me it is much easier to get the windage flush and to move it.

That's the tool I use, no problems with it. Works on the SVT-40 too. The elevation adjuster also doubles as a SVT crossbolt tool.

I had to file mine a bit to work with my russian SKS's. I was having the same problem with windage but now it works just fine. Only took about 10 minutes. Good luck!
Geez, posting about SKS's makes me want to go shooting right now.
