Do you think steel rings such as Mark 4, Badger, Nightforce, or TPS can handle the recoils on a 338LM?

Or Do I need the 6-screw rings such as the MAX50?

I'm hoping that your 338 will have a muzzle brake. If so, then any of the rings you listed should do fine provided that you are not using a scope that weighs too much. Heavier scopes will put much more strain on mounts under recoil, but you'd have to find one huge scope to make those rings fail.

I ran the AW standard ring/ mount/1913 interface when I had mine. The 338 is a BEAST. Next time around I'd use some 50cal rated rings - six screw per ring. Also be sure to degrease rings and scope ~ all sorts of things moving around that you might not know!!

Definately muzzle brake it - and shoot the NATO 250gr!

Most of all enjoy!!

On brands - I'd stick with Badger or Seekins Presicion.

Badger, Nightforce, U.S. Optics, are all good choices for a 338LM. TPS is okay if you can actually get them.

Of course, it depends on the optics you plan on using.

For my Semi-Auto 338 LM rifle, the rings came from the mfg. Will post pics of the rings as soon as I receive it.

If I remember correctly, he is getting a Cobb. I wish I could afford one and then I wish I would be able to afford to keep it fed. When I'll get mine, it will have to be a bolt action (most likely not magazine fed, so I won't blow as much on ammo :) ).

That's a nice boomstick! I'm still pissed to no end that I couldn't get back from Iraq in time to throw some combat pay into an 82A1 before the ban
