I recently purchased a .303 and have some markings on it, hope someone can id them for me. Thanks in advance!

The #1 on the bolt head is the sequence in headspace. The bolt heads go from 0 (shortest) to 3 (longest) (some say there is a 4 bolt head also but I haven't seen one). The D&M is for Davis and Mawson Ltd., a subcontractor. The broad arrow is the 'accepted for government service' mark.

M47and 1943 (it looks like on my phone)on the buttsocket means it was made at BSA (birmingham small arms) in the town of shirley in 1943.

FYI A BSA Shirley 1943 should have a serial number prefix of AC, AD, AE, AL, AQ, or AV.
