Several months ago I bought this from a friend that runs a pawn shop. Apparently someone had pawned it and never came back. I wasn't that familiar with it, but it looked nice, with a very nice bore and bluing. The stock has the usual dings, but is solid with no cracks. Came with a sling.

Alas, the mum has been ground.

Almost all the parts except the receiver match. The bolt, extractor, bayo hinge, floorplate, bolt release, and some of the sight parts all have a character followed by 81. The receiver is numbered differently...odd

Nice rifle! They are so much fun to shoot, once you get past the cost of ammo!

Again, very nice!

Very Nice T44

That's an early version. This type was matched by assembly number which is located on the underside of the receiver.

The sling is installed in reverse. Be careful with the sling tho, as originals are valuable in and of themselves

Thanks, guys. I checked the butt trap and found nothing. I haven't shot it yet.

I was wondering if the sling was an original.

Any opinions as to value of this rifle?

Thanks

The sling looks correct from what I can see. Sounds like you have a matching rifle. The early Arisakas matched their parts on an assembly number located under the receiver. You could easily get $500 or above on Gunbroker.

Here's a couple period photos of T44's:
