The price of the gun will vary drastically based upon whether it is a vintage octagon barrel level gun or a newer octagon barrel lever gun. Go to the pawn shop and get all the information that you can (including serial number if possible), take photos and post again here and you will bet a better idea as to what it is worth.

You can purchase a newer Henry 30 30 octagon barrel for $676 at Buds.

There are also Winchester "commemorative" guns with octagon barrels in the same basic price range.

A vintage Winchester 30 30 with an octagon barrel can easily run into the $4,500 plus range.

But!
Winchester made a TON of those rifles, only a rare few garner that kind of money.
Get the serial number, call Winchester and they should be able to tell you the year of manufacture and you can go from there.

Checked it out, not the prettiest gun. Winchester 94. Supposely made in 1898. They want 700 I think i saw. Is that a good deal, what else do I need to look for to make sure its a real old one, and worth money. I'm in the market for something old awesome and cool. But I don't feel good about things unless its a great deal. Otherwise I can care less, I have better hobbies.

$700 for an 1898 Winchester 94? I'd buy it. But that's just me.

How long is the barrel? 20" carbine or 26" rifle?

That is one pretty piece of wood!
It's a Model 64 Takedown, not a 94. You need to get a Cody letter on that!
Proofhouse uses the flawed Madis DOM's, if you want the correct DOM on your Winchester, post the serial here and I'll give you all the info I have.
