Hey guys...Im posting this poll to guage interest in a new product idea...

Would you guys be interested in US-made SAIGA style buttstocks and handguards??

Im considering working with a company to get a small batch made up, if there's interest in such a product.

Basically I would have them copy the SAIGA stock, with some minor changes in the interest of improved comfort/ergonomics (slight change to the wrist angle mostly)

I have no idea how much something like this would cost, which is why Im posting this poll....

The stock/handguard would be US made so they WOULD count as US compliance parts (Original OEM SAIGA parts DO NOT count as US parts)

Would you guys be interested???

*update*

OK I've been on the phone with a couple stock manufacturers...

Seems its pretty simple *relatively speaking* to make the BUTTSTOCK but the HANDGUARD can be problematic...

With that in mind, I think I'm going to limit the endeavor strictly to BUTTSTOCKs and not the HGs.

Basically you'd use your original Romanian or Yugo handguard in conjunction with the buttstock I'll be offering. This will get you a US compliance part AND a wood stock to match the wood handguard.

I'll keep you guys updated as I get pricing, etc worked out.

Thanks!

Heh, I'd be primarily interested in the handguard personally. I've already got two Saiga buttstocks.

If you design the buttstock with a grip similiar to the JAE-100, I'd buy one. Prefer sanded but not finished. Oh and stamp it made in the USA somewhere please.

I would, the wrist angle sucks on my Saiga. :(

Hey check with Matt at Ironwood. Last I heard he was taking measurements to cut up some CA compliant Siaga wood.

Yep...just got off the phone with him :D

Ive got some other sources Im checking into as well.

The problem I have is what shape is everyone gonna like?? I dont like the original wrist angle on the SAIGA stock, its too shallow/flat.

Matt suggested the HK SL7 style stock for a wrist-pattern to follow.

What do you guys think??

My goal is to get the stocks made for $50 or less..but we'll see

Thanks for everyone's input.

My preference would be something like this:

Somebody does these on the saiga-12 forums but I'd rather buy from a fellow calgunner...

I'd be in for one if it was cheap. +1 on unfinished and US marked.

If I could get a certain gunshop owner here on CalGuns to transfer Saiga's, I'd be interested.

Eh, build a Saiga out of an AK... then you don't have to worry about the magazine fit issues.

Well, actually that applies only to 7.62x39mm - there's no reason not to buy a Saiga in 308.
