you can get a sage ebr stock and replace the rear collapsing part with a remington buttstock. I'm planning on putting one together on a lrb with sei barrel.

I would buy a steyr aug. I love that rifle. Best rifle I have ever handled.
sr25 would be a close second and applications for SBRs like aksu and mp5k.

CA SBR law is separate/independent from CA AW laws. Even if Roberti-Roos/SB23 were to take a dive, SBRs would still be (at the very best) very difficult, even if you have all the Fed stuff in line.

In addition to the MP5/10 I mentioned earlier I'd really want a slienced Ingram M10. I realize they're not very practical but I've wanted one since I was a kid.

I think we've all got a list like that of stuff we wanted when we were kids that we'll get at some point whether or not its practical. Like a early 80's Turbo Carrera for instance. ;)

Realistically, the only part of the AW ban that has a chance of being tossed right now is SB23 (evil features). That would be all we need. If that happens I predict an evil black rifle serge into Cali, and a severe shortage for the rest of the country for a few years.:)

Yes, of course.

My point was, MUCH more than Hunt/SB-23 is currently in play right now.

The right Parker ruling would give precedent for attacking many more laws in Cali than "just" SB-23 which the Hunt case is after.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Hunt case, as the bit of law in this state that bothers me most is SB-23, and it will happen sooner than anything related to Parker could...

Yes, that's the one. It sure is a work of art. Nice in .308, but nicest of all in 7.5 Swiss. I still have a couple of 480-round sealed 'shoeboxes' of RUAG GP-11 in the event that a SIG AMT ever makes it into my life. I really want the iron and wood version to match my K-31.

== SIDE NOTE FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR A SIG-550 'OLL' ==

There's not yet any such thing as an OLL for the SIG 550/551 to my knowledge, but I do recall DSA had imported some 50 'post-ban' import SIG 550s around 1995 that had been butchered to conform to the Federal AWB. They also didn't have any CA Roberti-Roos markings on them that would prohibit their ownership or transfer in CA presuming they could be modified to conform to SB-23. I have seen one with my own eyes in CA with a domestically-made thumbhole stock, a clipped barrel right at the GL ring, and milled bayo lug. You'd be on your own with one of these. Good bloody luck finding one, but they are out there.

Not quite true.

While SB23 has its vulnerabilities, Roberti-Roos does too. Most of CA's AW law is really (amended) Roberti-Roos, and SB23 features stuff was just patched into it in 2000. The overall structure of CA's AW laws are essentially entirely Roberti-Roos - even 50BMG stuff was patched into it too (though 50BMGs are not AWs).

Roberti-Roos has its own vulnerabilities regardless of SB23. A few kicks and the house of cards could fall :P

There are two manufacturers making domestic US AUG clones, but Microtech is the outfit showing the most progress. Their rifle is the MSAR 'Stg-556'. Sadly, they're not true-spec AUGs, but I am hoping that they'll make 6.8 SPC barrels and bolt heads for current Steyr owners. There is also no direct source for spare AUG components in the US at the moment, and everyone who has a genuine AUG/USR is scrambling for spares these days.

Wow..that's pretty cool. I've always wondered about spare parts for the exotic imports. For AR fans I guess it's not much of a problem but if you have a weapon like the AUG it might be a little difficult.

That's why I have been going the AR/870/1911 route lately. A gun is no good if some pin breaks and the replacement costs 200 bucks shipped by mule from Trashkanistan.

Bill, wasn't Roberti-Roos taken head on? Taking down SB-23 will be the "crack in the dam", but I don't think it will take down Cat. 1 or Cat. 2 immediately. It will however give the manufacturers of the named AW's the ability to take legal action, if they choose, because only their products are banned.

Yes, just a little.

When you enter a gun show, your pals split up from you and head straight to the racks of AR uppers and accessories while you forlornly comb the aisles hoping against all odds to find the one part you've been searching for the past two or three years sitting inside a dusty plexiglas jewelry case along with a bunch of other mixed up exotic parts. Step two is hoping the guy selling it doesn't know it's current value. I typically wait until the table owner needs to pee and his wife/girlfriend/baby's momma takes over while he's gone.

Step three is surfing the online auctions and parts boards hoping to find what you're looking for. This offers better luck, but higher prices.

Anyone who would stumble over paying $75 for the correct spring-loaded firing pin, $700 for the roller-style 'A2' bolt carrier (stripped), $1300 for a barrel, or $400 for a 'small parts kit' should shy away from the exotics for the sake of preserving their mental health.
