Very interesting article on how the DC gun ban lawsuit was financed -- of course I knew Cato was involved but I didn't realize it was privately financed.

Politically, I think the fact that Levy doesn't own guns and didn't take financing from the pro-gun groups only helps here...thoughts?

At this point, the politics of the case itself are taking a back seat to the legal situation.

I agree in that it might help. Mostly with middle of the road people.

Have read several other articles in the past few days on the DC issue. The politicians are now tossed into the fire pit on which side of the fence they are going to stand on in an election year. This is the line in the sand as far as I can tell....... support from Pro Guns folks is needed more than ever now.

This case is in the judiciary. The only thing the politcos could do is moot the case by passing a law ending the ban in DC. I give that very limited chances.

The next step is for either DC to accept the case and the ruling stands allowing all Federal gun laws to be challenged in DC, or appeal. If they appeal, they appeal to an en-banc panel (which is all of the judges in the circuit.) I expect them to appeal and I expect them to lose the en-banc by not having a hearing granted.

Then they can choose. DC government can leave this and its even clearer that all Federal gun laws can be challenged in DC, or appeal it to the Supreme Court. If the appeal to the Court, I expect the Court will take it and give us at least a 5-4 and maybe a 6-3 ruling in favor of the individual rights view.

Anybody notice the Wapo writer is jealous and fixated on this guy's material success?

It's nice to have a person of substantial wealth backing our cause. I hope this case goes somewhere positive.

That libertarian done good.

It was nice to see someone get annoyed at what the government was doing and then deciding to do something about it.
