i know this is the rifle section but people here would probally have a better perception on how much a box of shells is going for about right now.

The last time I bought any 30/06 I bought this case lot and paid 77.94 for 192 rounds in a spam can

That ammo is much cheaper at CMP but you do have to meet their requirements. http://www.odcmp.com/ammo.htm If you are looking for generic commercial 30-06 (not for an M1), try Walmart.

Note that the CMP and Greek '06 is generally magnetic, i.e. it will attract a magnet. If that's a problem at your range (like Angeles down here in SoCal), you can't shoot it there.

That may be the case but in Nevada it feeds real good in a BAR.

Ever shoot it in an M-1 Sam? I have some Korean that AIM sent me accidentally and they gave me a smoking deal on it so I kept it and bought some M-1s to shoot it up, sadly, it rusted them cause I didnt know it was "mildly" (ahem) corrosive.

Does CMP still have that greek?

The CMP has millions (literally) of rounds left. It is not corrosive. If you qualify to buy it, it is the best deal on ammo for your Garand.
