They will not ship Brit surplus ss109?

I think some venders are getting fed up with all the CA. laws. I won't be surprised if the list gets bigger.:) :)

The Guatamalan (sp) ammo is GOOD STUFF!

And that price is not bad depending on the freight cost.

I wasnt impressed with the ss109 as it seemed a bit dirtier...

YMMV

They also wont sell 50 bmg ammo to CA

http://surplusammo.com/product_info.php?products_id=100&osCsid=a4904056d2332715aef4a9b2ee3c57f4

What's up with that?

Most likely, they're like a certain bullheaded co-worker of mine. They heard the noises about CA's original intention to ban 50BMG ammo as a seperate felony offense for each round, and decided that AB50 actually passed with that language.

Doesn't matter that all the ammo restrictions were yanked out of AB50... the idiots out there still believe it's in the law, even if it isn't.

Anybody know why Ammoman.com won't sell there SS109 green tip to civillians anymore ? It now says on there site its only sold to Govt, Law Enforcement, and Overseas sales . This has just recently changed within the last few weeks .

If any vendors can not read/understand laws well, don't do business with them. You can always find somebody else to do business with.:)

No, armor piercing rifle rounds are legal in California.

No, armor piercing rifle rounds are legal in California.

To add: AP rounds for handguns are banned. Rifle AP rounds are not banned in CA.

50BMG ammos are not banned in CA. Only 50BMG rifles are banned in CA.

Got a case of British Radway Green SS109 couple years ago from AIM Surplus. They shipped to me without any problem.

No, armor piercing rifle rounds are legal in California.

Armor piercing pistol rounds are a felony. Armor piercing rifle rounds are perfectly legal to own, buy and sell as an individual. Dealers may not sell armor piercing ammo.

Found this on another site .....

LEGALITY OF ARMOR PIERCING AMMO OWNERSHIP

A. The writer who pointed out that federal law prohibits only manufacturing and selling (not possessing and selling) "armor piercing ammunition," is correct.

Addressing some of the points made by others commenting on this subject:

1. SS109 is not "armor piercing ammunition." "Armor piercing ammunition" is defined in federal law
[18 U.S.C. 921(17)(B)] as "a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and
which is constructed" of various metals harder than lead, or "a full jacketed projectile larger than .22
caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25
percent of the total weight of the projectile." SS109 bullets have a steel tip under the jacket, but they
have a lead core.

2. 7.62x39 iron core ammo was declared "AP" when someone put together an "AR-15" type
handgun in that caliber. At that point, the projectile fit the language about "may be used in a handgun"
and that was all she wrote.

3. M855 (and SS109, if you want to get technical) and M2 AP are Specifically excluded from the
ATF's definition of armor piercing ammunition. I don't have a cite handy, maybe someone else on the
list has it? I don't know why M2 AP is excluded, but if you want the real deal in terms of armor
piercing 5.56 NATO, you want M995, not M855 or SS109. M855/SS109 only has a partial steel
core while M995 has a tungsten core. Read all about it at: http://www.fulton-armory.com/AP.htm

So back to my Question ...I bought some SS109 from Ammoman about a month ago . Now it states Not to be sold except to Govt., Law Enforcement, Overseas etc . Anyone know why the change ?

I spoke to Eric a few weeks ago regarding the same question. He states that he only has a limited supply till the next shipment, so the Military, Govt., LE, etc. gets first dibs.
