Yes, they now offer a 10-round mag:

Had to have it, for no other reason than having it.
And no, the open sights to not obscure the scope's sight pic.

That's one wierd looking mag. Why all the extra ammo and capacity though? I've rarely needed to shoot even the largest deer more than once with a .30-06. In fact most bears and pigs even go down with one well placed shot.

You gotta love the R-1 though it's a beautiful rifle. My only complaint is that the mag doesn't hinge like the Browning BAR. One wrong tap by a tree branch and it's bye-bye to your $50 detachable mag because you'll never find it at 3:30am in the morning.

Here's why you need all that ammo. 4 days ago, I ran into a group of 20+ pigs. Only 3 dropped. Right now, its quick mag changes that allow more dropped pigs. The BAR was preventing us from doing that.

Aside from all this, the R1 is beautiful, and in my opinion, ergonomically perfect, unlike the BAR.

Where can I buy a 10 rounder???

I never did get the shotgun action for a centerfire rifle cartridge idea...

I never did get the shotgun action for a centerfire rifle cartridge idea...

Why not? I went with the R1 after I realized it has half the recoil of the other .300 mags and I have yet to see it fail after MANY shots. Also, I needed a fast semi-auto for the running herds...

Last month I was able to doubletap a pig with the scope never leaving the target with this rifle due to its low recoil. The R1 cannot be beat in my opinion. This comes from real world weekly use, not internet theory. Finally someone designed something against tradition and made a big improvement.

It's polymer. Yeah, the mag is a couple bucks, so I only bought one! :)

I only see a .30-06 10 round magazine and not a .300 win mag. Any ideas?

They only have the two 10-round mags thus far: .308 Win. and 30-06. After the .308 was released, I had to wait six months for the 30-06! Perhaps the .300 Win. Mag is still in the production pipeline? Sorry man! But keep an eye out on that page. I kept checking back every couple weeks until the 30-06 mag magically appeared. You can also put in a "request to stock" somewhere on that site. Midway has that function as well. Good luck!
