This is the bench, but it was a "blow out sale". Up front near the registers. I was there when the sales associate came over and pasted the $40 sale price over the reg. sale price.

If that is a Gorilla Rack I helped designed that bench about 17 years ago, I still have one of the originals in use in my garage. Good bench that has lasted 17 years for me so far.

Do you think I should upgrade the top board?

Thanks for the heads up, got the last one (I think) in the Glendora store, great price.

Had a hard time finding them, they (it) was in the area where they sell chain and rope...

Good price.. hopefully they have em in Fairfield. $40 is a steal and to me, you can never have too many workbenches if you have the room. I actually built my first bench using this design...

uFpeNVO80kY

It is very sturdy and cheap. Made it in one night. You can also modify the design and make it your own... add shelves, drawers, heavy duty wheels, etc.

:auto: to Home Depot!

I assembled the bench, the boards are just loosely sitting on the top. If I drill some holes to fasten the board, what's the worst thing can happen?

Careful drilling close to the edge on particle board it tends to disintegrate.

Any other way to fasten the board without drilling? Put enough weight on it?

I picked up a few to throw in the corners of the warehouse and use as staging tables.

OP, I'm curious to know how you would use this as a reloading table. Did you bracket it to the wall or floor? It's 99% assembled by friction and slightly shaky

Still pretty good tables for the price

I just finished assembling this work bench, initially the particle board seems loose on top of the table but then I realize it is sitting on top of the posts.

Just a suggestion, check if the board goes all the way down on the table frame. Half of the particle board thickness should be covered by the fronts posts on either side.

Are you sure you set the top all the way down? While not fastened, mine seems pretty stable. There are screw holes in the rail that the top sits on (from underneath), but as I stated, I'd be hesitant to use any on the particle board.

I'm thinking I'll use some melamine for the top as the coating will keep any chemicals from soaking in, plus it quite a bit thicker and would be more stable therefore.

Nice little bench, thanks again for the tip 69Mach1.

I've been using this exact table for reloading for a few years now and it's worked well for that purpose. While not quite as sturdy as a homebuilt table using 2x4s that are screwed and glued, it does the job fine. It does move around very slightly when I'm resizing brass (it stands on those thin metal legs after all) but that does not affect anything. I suppose if you were really anal you could bolt a length of 2x4 along the back, behind the peg board, to the metal frame, and then screw through that into the studs in your wall. But I don't see the need for that personally.

I'm thinking I'll use some melamine for the top as the coating will keep any chemicals from soaking in, plus it quite a bit thicker and would be more stable therefore.

I did the same thing. The melamine gives you a smooth work surface that's easy to wipe off with a shop rag. And it's disposable, so when your bench starts looking really grungy from all the crap you've spilled on it, just ditch the melamine and screw on a new sheet and your bench looks new again.

ha! I did better... went to the Alhambra store looking for one. When I couldn't find them I asked and the guy said "oh yeah we have just 1 left, it was being used on a display and I just put it in the back yesterday. Since it was on display I'll give it to you for half off. Its in great condition"

So he showed it to me and yep, perfect condition. He had said it listed for $99 but when he looked it up the $40 price came up so he said "ok, list at $40 so half off is $20".

Sold!

Had to take it apart to put it in the SUV but not bad... $99 for $20!

I just bought the last one at the arden home depot and assembled it. It will work great for the garage for general maintenance of firearms. No heavy gun smithing or torquing. The work area is made of particle board and not held down so some modifications such as 2x4 reinforcement is needed if you wish to turn this into a reloading bench. The drawer is very flimsy but will work for holding things. The peg board is loosely head on 4 corners so several reinforcing 1x1 behind it will make it much more sturdy. Took me 30 mins to assemble but should take less.

For $40, its decent. I wish I can find more locally since I would like another 2 and fill up a whole wall in the garage for storage and tool hanging.

The box it comes in is thin and easily manageable Although will weight 40-50lbs
2" x 36" x 62" im guessing so it will fit in the backseat of a sedan easily.
The box makes a nice target backing or to lay down prone on.

I plan on reinforcing a corner to mount my press on.
Tools needed.. Philips + Mallet of some kind.

If you want a workbench out of the box to handle serious reloading, prepare to shell out $250+ or build it yourself..

ahh crap I thought they were gnna be heavy duty...o well for $40 each I can't go wrong. No, definitely not heavy duty. But sturdy enough to load sub-MOA rifle ammo on (assuming you do all of the other stuff right).

And you can always reinforce it if you want.

Picked one up on Sunday at Woodland. About 45 mins from Sacramento, they have 2 in box and one display. The guy who help me find it was surprised how cheap they were going for. It's in the clearance isle, you can't miss it when entering the store from loading area. Tell the tards @ your local home depot to search with the SKU number on website.

could always just cut an extra piece of 5ply to sit on top ad glue/screw it down. That ought to solve the problem.
