HK G36 with accessories.

The goofball on the left has his finger on the trigger of his stealth pistol.

G36 with the low profile scope rail (like that found on the New Mfg. Black SL8 rifles), folding stock and Eotech sight.

That's funny, I just spent the last two hours researching the HK G-36.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm thinking of buying a G-36K, it's demilled with a cut receiver, basically complete parts kit...

Has anyone built up CA legal G-36, how difficult was it? I hope I don't have to buy a SL-8 to use as a donor.

OK... now ID the sidearm...

Yes, you will need to buy a SL-8 to convert. You would need the SL-8 receiver and fire control components.

Doing the conversion yourself isn't going to be cheap and easy. Expect to spend nearly $3000 when you're finished.

EDIT: And it's probably going to be a difficult build. You can't just top load it, and pinning a 10 round mag won't work, so you'll need to build a single shot.

Building a featureless SL-8 isn't difficult, but the G36 has a pistol grip and a folding stock, but most of the G36 conversions use an American made fixed stock that looks like the folder. I believe Top-Notch is the company you would want to contact to do the actual conversion....

As much as you guys know about guns who knows who the guy being protected.

Screen doors on submarines aside, this one is tricky.

SAS, Tromix makes a stock that kinda looks like that for the AK rifle. It's a folder or a fixed stock.

Also keep in mind that (I am fairly positive) the SL8 and G36 have some minor dimensions that do not match exactly, kind of like the FA G3 and the PTR-91, only there are a few more and in far more ciritical areas on the SL8/G36. SMGLee has a VERY kick *** one, nearly identical to a G36 and even the guys on HKPro agree it's one of the best they've seen. I believe his cost him around $3.5k total so far. I don't know if he posts here, but you might be able to find a topic of his on HKPro or arf.

ps. that stealth gun comment cracked me up.

If you retain the SL8 Thumbhole Stock on it, you can plug the holes with removable plugs (PM 69Mach1) or have them permanently filled.. then you can have the detachable mag.
