I have just acquired a A2 stock (thanks Swift) and was wondering what would happen if I used the spring and buffer from the voltor tactical stock in the A2 stock? and if I were to obtain a a2 buffer can I use the spring from the other stock in the a2 or is that a different spring?

i think they use the same spring but different size buffers.

HOLD ON! IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT DON"T POST!

There are generally two types of AR15 non-interchangeable buffer sizes, springs and receiver extensions (Buffer tubes): Rifle length and Carbine length.

Exactly what TYPE of Vltor stock are you talking about replacing with an A2 stock g2jap?

If you are replacing a Vltor Carbine length collapsible stock with the standard A2 stock, you will need: 1) a rifle length buffer tube; 2) an A2 receiver extension spacer; 3) an A2 buttstock screw; 4) a rifle length buffer spring and 5) a rifle buffer.

ETA: g2jap, after a little research it looks like you only traded buttstocks. You will need a rifle receiver extension to replace your 6 position collapsible buttstock receiver extension. Like the parts mentioned earlier, these are not interchangeable.

g2jap,
All you should need is the buffer spring and buffer. ($10-$15 from Midway.) It came off my Ar15 lower and I sent it to you.

If you have a problem, let me know and I'll help make it right.

he could also be talking about vltor's rifle modstock that isnt collapsibleYeah, but like I said, I did some research and found a WTT thread where g2jap wanted to trade the sliding portion of a collapsible stock for an A2 stock.

I am willing to trade or sell:

Stag 6 position stock with a rubber butt pad (minus the buffer tube, spring, and buffer). selling for $45 or willing to trade for a A2 stock

Yes, there is the Vltor non-collapsible and it will fit on both the rifle and carbine receiver extensions. The fit on a carbine extension is pretty sloppy though.
