View Full Version : First range trip for my new Savage 10fp

I took my new (to me) Savage 10FP (http://calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=49557) to Chabot today, using a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 scope, and IMI surplus Match .308 from the 80's (http://calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=49068) and got this:

.5135" - .308" = .2055 center to center at 100 yards

sure, it was just 3 shots, but still not too shabby.

Thanks, Calguns!

that's a sweet group! i'm kinda torn between the savage and the remington 700p.

I've always wanted a 700p, but have always had other gun priorities whenever I have the money. Then the Savage came up on this board with a nice base and great rings, plus the upgraded stock, all at a very good price. Adding the scope put me at about the cost of a base 700p; and this rifle is clearly incredibly precise.

What stock and scope do you have on yours? I just finished putting mine together. It has a McMillan A-3 stock and a SS 10x42 scope. I cant wait to try it.

The 700 is nice but I actually like the 10fp better. The trigger on the Savage is much better than the Remington. The 700ís action is a bit smoother and the finish is a little nicer, but I think that is more cosmetic than anything else. I have seen a lot of people shoot groups like that with rifles built like this and I have shot close to that with a friendís that has a Savage factory stock which is less than desirable.

I also love my savage 10fp.....I have the B&C medalist tactical stock, warne QD maxima rings, and warne tactical 1 piece base....For scope I also got the super sniper 10X and love it....awesome gun
