Does anyone know of a range between Stockton and Chico that will allow 50BMG?

Rancho Cordova says yes but only if I rent and shoot their gun. Sacramento Shooting Center says no.

I'm getting tired of driving to the Free State of Nevada every time I get the urge to set off a few rounds.

That sucks, what is their objection to the .50BMG?
I shoot mine regularly at various socal ranges w/o probems, some magnet test the ammo so no cheap surplus ball rounds.

I have no idea what the objections might be.

Not politically correct enough perhaps?

Too scary maybe?

Caliber envy? (It is a really really big gun afterall...)

Diablo Valley (USI) in Concord allows them.

The 100 yard is public. You have to be a member to use the 200 yard. They have 50 cal matches at the 200 yard a few times a year.

Big yes on USI. In fact our next match is on the 24th of this month. Come on out and have fun with us. Don't forget that the FCSA has a 1000 yard match in April in Reno.

Here's a link if you aren't familiar with USI http://www.diablorodandgun.com/

You can check the post in the Competition form for more info or contact me.

Sounds like fun! I managed to reserve the last 50BMG slot at Boomershoot in Idaho in April and really need to log some scope time prior so I at least look like I know what I'm doing.

Just went to nice free range out by Orville just HWY 162. Nothing posted about BMGs but I did see a guys shooting one. No marked distances but it looks to be as far as 6-800 yards. No RSO but seemed to be very safe.

I know a FCSA member in Chico that does shoot his close to home. Unfortunately, I will not see him until the FCSA match in April (Reno). I would encoarage you to try to attend 50BMGBOB'S match at USI and also the FCSA match in Reno. Bring what you've got and you will probably be able to borrow anything else!
