I have three AR10 mags from when I first put my HAR25/Armalite hybrid together. When I installed one of Darin's Bullet-Buttons I needed more mags so I bought two more. When I received them I noticed that they were different. One looks just like the original three and the other has a different finish and a longer plunger on the follower. The different looking one doesn't work worth a darn. Does anyone know which mag is newer? The ones that work have bumps at the front corners of the follower.

One of them maybe an M-14 converted mag, rather than Armalite made mag. This is the generation II mag:

What brand are they, Armalite or DPMS?

Armalite.

What I'm afaid of is that Armalite changed their follower to make the mags work better in an Armalite lower and in doing so made the mags work worse in an HAR25 lower. The spring wire on the one that doesn't work as well is also larger in diameter.:(

What I see is the one on the right in the picture has a different follower. It appears there are edges on the front of the follower that are not present on the one on the left.

I don't know which one is new though, it appears the one on the right is the one with some wear.

Have a great Kenpo day

The bumps on the edges keep the follower from tilting forward. That mag works with just shimming on the sides. With the other I need to shim the back to change the angle. I also noticed the mag on the left has a longer bolt stop plunger.
