View Full Version : I'd like pre order a Colt 901

I've been wanting to build an AR10, and even looked at a few used ones in the Private Sellers forum without any luck. I've decided to go with the Colt SP/CM901 purchase after a month of reading all the CG Forums on builds/used sales/new sales.

Markley's in Watsonville has been my go to store, however if anyone can point me to another option(s) with better luck securing one I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Steve in Monterey

I don't know if Markley's will do the transfer and if they do it will be expensive. Check out G&R Tactical because I think he is taking preorders and then look up Santa Cruz Armory in Ben Lomond......$60 for the transfer($35 fee $25 Dros) and then tax. I am in the same boat and I live in Watsonville and use Markley's for non black rifle stuff lol.

do you have to swap buffers on this rifle in order to use a 5.56 upper with it, or will the OEM one suffice?

The Colt CM901 is a modular firearms platform that can be converted from an assault rifle to a machine gun as well as carbine length barrels without the use of tools [1].

Who cares if he does. Instead of contributing to his thread you mock him? He probably wants it because it sounds like it's going to be a great rifle that happens to have the unique ability to swap from a 7.62 to a 5.56 upper using the same lower. Op, good advice from the other posts, and welcome to Calguns.

NP, I'm thick-skinned... gonna build a 308 to fill the gap ti'll their available. I like the Colt as a 308 and would keep it that way.

If you want a .308 in the meantime, get a LMT MWS. I think it would be near impossible to build a rifle that could compete with the MWS for cheaper than you can buy one. I have one, and it's hands down my favorite rifle I own.

He's talking about the SP901 not the CM901.. I will get one eventually for a .308 rifle if they can make a SP901CA like they did for the 6920CA and 6940CA..

I really like the SP 901 but I would want to see it in operation. If it was really nice I would consider selling my m1a's.

Off Topic...
40yrs Riding, and playing at the Creek. I'm a lucky one for sure. Since it's closure in May 08 by blm HFO director, rick cooper, I've ignored his closure order at every opportunity and have become a Thorn in his side until the day he dies. I've pretty much ruined his closure efforts with the help of a few, and will continue with those efforts for as long as it takes!

I had a few 50 cal. rounds applied to a few hillside pumpkins at my Enduro this year...
