I just opened up a new Safariland 6378 holster- the model for a light- and there is a srew and bushing on the back side that I have no idea what it is for? It sticks out a good 3/8".
I can not find anything about it, no instructions nor pictures on the web?

Are you talking about the tab that is supposed to hook underneath your belt when you draw?

Is it for retention adjustment?

If your talking about the screw adjustment toward the bottom on the back, it's to adjust tension against the light so it's snug and doesn't rattle.. I believe the holster fits different light models so you need to adjust it.

this must be it- the only thing it could be for. Doesn't seem to do anything though when tightened and loosened. Whatever, it works.
