I started out with a stripped lower from JD Machine. $96.51 after tax, plus $25 DROS fee= $121.51 OTD.
http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/1550/681u.jpg

Next up was a Palmetto State Armory MOE Lower Build Kit in Foliage Green. $124.99 plus shipping insurance and S&H: $133.55 to my door.
Raddlock Gen-X BB from Sacramento Black Rifle: $38.60 OTD.

Total for my complete lower: $293.66

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8223/img4220jc.jpg

The upper came next, sooner than later, and has been ordered.

Palmetto State Armory 16" Mid-Length Hammer Forged Upper. $470.70 with shipping insurance and S&H to my door. Decided I wanted to upgrade to the MOE version later after placing my order, at the cost of $40 (don't know why it is double the cost of the option; was just told it was "the fee"). So, up to $510.70 shipped for the MOE upper with a Foliage Green handguard. It was packed up today and has started it's week long journey here.
EDIT: PSA fixed the "fee" to upgrade the upper to the $20 it is listed as. Thank you PSA!

Running total: $784.36

Bought two 20 round PMAG rebuild kits as well as 2 Magblock limiters today, foliage green of course. $42.77 OTD
LOCTITE Plastic Bonder Epoxy: $5.89 OTD

Grand total thus far: $833.02

The lower with the PSA upper! Sorry for the crappy lighting/color. Have those stupid CFL bulbs everywhere...

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7431/img4463e.jpg

Christmas came a day early, so I got the stock wrench, Troy Battle Sight Adjustment Tool, Troy Battle Sight and the Gunvault AR Magwell Lock. I was given the two PMAG 10/30 Mags before Christmas because even the Mrs. agreed it looked better with them than the 10/20's lol. I got a couple of quick pics in the sunlight, so the color is much truer (almost exact) as well.

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/1285/img4484mz.jpg

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/9738/img4487ts.jpg

Grand total was $833.02, but if the $65 Battle Sight were included in the price (with no tax and free shipping from Amazon), the grand total would be $898.02!

Thank for checking out my build, and thanks for the help along the way. I'm ready to get going on the next one!

Correct! :D I also have two already blocked 30 rd. PMAGs on the way for Christmas as well! Figured 1. it wouldn't hurt to have two more mags and 2. the 10/20's won't get in the way (or as much in the way) of any bench shooting like a 10/30 might.

Looks really good, in fact remindes me of my first build.

I wont post a pic of mine in your in progress thread but if you want to check it out . . . . . .

Nice!! I really like the green on the black. Nice choice. I am not even done with my first one yet and I am already thinking about my next one, (don't tell my wife), and I know I am going to do something with some color like yours.

Thanks guys! I keep checking the tracking of the upper hoping it's going to magically appear here in CA sooner, lol. I've got the disease, and bad!!!

Thanks! I'm in the same boat. I've already started talking to her about getting another one...one that she can use as "hers." :43: I really like the foliage green. Glad I got it as I was going to go all black, but at the same time, wanted a bit of color. OD green is...just not "my" green. Maybe it'll grow on me, who knows.

Since it's been staying sunny, I'll try and get some better and truer pictures of the FG and the rifle after the upper gets here Tuesday.

Looks awesome, gotta love KISS rifles! That color is really starting to grow on me. :)

I know you mentioned throwing a Troy BUIS on there, but I think a carry handle sight would look sweet too!

Very nice!

As an aside...it was drilled into us (USMC) that the "carry handle" was NOT to be used as such. Always wondered why...

Carry handles...have their place. Just not a place on this rifle!
Thanks guys! The foliage really is a great color. It just seems to be very picky on the lighting when it comes to having the proper color in a picture.

3 more days until it is complete!

The picture of just the lower was right after I hastily assembled it before I had to leave for work. Being my first build, I didn't pay attention to the orientation. Someone pointed it out in my other thread, and I fixed it as soon as I got home from work and read said post. I also had my hammer spring in backwards and the disconnector spring in upside-down.

All is as it should be and it is GTG! :)

that means tax and FFL fee was $0.49 total... LOL Can I have the name of that FFL, I like his math skills.

$96.51 after tax, plus the $25 DROS fee. Amazing what a comma can do, lol. OCD in me says to fix it now, and it shall be done! :p

Thank you sir! I can't stop holding it. Only part even worse about it now is I have to wait until Wednesday to have time to shoot it. :(

Got to take it out today. Shot 80 rounds I think (not much, but I started to get a bad migraine, that I still have), but not one hiccup whatsoever. I didn't have the problem going on where it took a bit for the upper to "straighten itself out," like I've seen posted on here. Then again, I also disassembled everything and lubed it up well before I went shooting.

I got the irons sighted in at 25m, but I think I may look into co-witness optics. Can't easily hit small things off-handed with it from a distance.

21SF
12-28-2011, 2:57 PM
Co-witness optics are usually red dots....wont make it easier to hit small things..

roushstage2
12-28-2011, 3:08 PM
I thought about that after I posted. It'd have to be some sort of red dot either way though, if I did go that route. I've got the front sight post...

I'm very happy with it. I couldn't tell you the difference between the two systems, but everything feels great. I'll just have to stick to killing the soda cans with my .22s when I'm shooting off-hand.

I keep looking at the Nikon M-223 and the Millet DMS-1. If I unmounted the Battle Sight, and remounted it later in the same spot, it wouldn't lose it's zero would it?

because youll look like youre in the Army, and your weapon is not at the ready when you are using the carry handle.

***BUMP***
I've made a few additions/changes since I originally completed the rifle, so I figured I'd bump this thread with an update.
I've shot hundreds of more rounds down the barrel and have not had any issues with the PSA upper, including many of those rounds being TulAmmo for cheap plinking. I've also switched from TulAmmo to PMC X-TAC in the same session, no cleaning in between, and haven't had any problems.

ADDED:
Magpul Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad
Magpul MVG
Primary Arms Micro Dot with Removable Base
Elzetta Front Sight Base Flashlight Mount
Streamlight PolyTac LED
Newtown Firearms Muzzle Device powdercoated matte black
I'll be ordering an ALG Defense Combat Trigger in the next couple of days as well!

As it currently sits:
