Hello all, I'm playing with the idea of putting together an AR15.....any suggestions on where to buy to receiver and kit? I was looking to spend around 300-400 bucks.

$600 is pushing hard.
Just a cheap lower (79.99) after tax and dros will eat almost $115
The cheapest kit can be found just around $415 (Blackthorne). A lot of people here don't like them.

Best bang for the buck (imho) is Palmetto State armory. Shop around in your area for a lower.

Delton usually has cheap parts kits.
$600 is about as cheap as a AR gets.
The cheapest I have built one was around $450-$500
I scored a lower for $50 and a complete parts kit for $400

I say Palmetto State Armory for everything EXCEPT the lower receiver. First of all, even when they were on sale for $50 + $7 shipping, you have to factor in out of state transfer fees + DROS. This will add another $70 or so on top of that $57.

My suggestion is to buy a lower locally, if possible. This will save you some time/money and avoid the hassle. If you plan to really "build" the AR, then shop the Equipment Exchange on ARFCOM or the marketplace here for all the components you need. You can also buy a complete rifle (minus the lower rcvr) from PSA, but be prepared to wait as they often take a LONG time to get these shipped out and are most likely backed up from the crazy Thanksgiving sales.

Also, a $3-400 budget is going to be difficult or nearly impossible.
